Is it possible to get a replica made

off of pictures? I only got 2 and wanted to put her back quickly and now I’m regretting it. 6lbs 2oz.  I wish I would have gotten the length and girth but didn’t. I think a lot of you have been around the block to give me a good idea, I appreciate any feedback!

Research, research, research. I had good detailed pics and knew the weight of my fish. I failed to get length and girth measurements though. Even so, there are only a certain number of forms that any particular taxi is going to choose from. I talked to 3 different guys and finally decided on a form. Also finally decided on a guy based off some pictures he had online and his price being that he was within a reasonable driving distance and saving me on shipping costs. The fish he posted online looked great, but I guess I wasn't aware that maybe they didn't look like the fish they were supposed to look like. Long story short, I got mine done and it looks nothing like the pics I have of my fish. I am going to take it to have it re-painted by a different guy here pretty soon.

I'd wait till you catch a bigger bass..?

Did you have line on your reel? How difficult is it to use line cut to measure length and girth?

I know you are maybe the smartest person on here, but just because a fish weighs a certain amount doesn't mean that every fish on the planet that weighs that amount is the exact same length and girth. You do realize that don't you?

 

 

You can have a replica made based on the photo you provided if you want or make an enlarged photo of your PB bass and put it on your wall.

I'm not telling him to do anything. I'm saying what I'd do. A 6 lb bass is fairly common, there are much bigger bass in GA. to be caught. I'd spend the $$ on a bigger fish, if I did that. I just snap a good pic, and call it good.

He didn't ask if he should get one, he asked if it was possible.

Sure, every bass isn't a cookie cutter, that is why we have scales and can measure the bass we catch and take photos. What is your length estimate?

You can get a replica mount of any fish, the taxidermist simply need something to use as a estimate so the  make something that replicates what the customer is looking for.

I like the idea of that.  How do you keep the fish from touch the ground to get the girth measurement?

I know my cork handles are all 14" and I mark 18" & 22" on the rod itself.

Here's another idea for you and it's what I do in my house. I'm not a huge fan of mounts, and my wife certainly isn't a fan of hanging dead animals on our walls. 

 

I always take a few good photo's with the fish and then release it. So what I do is get a shadow box style picture frame. Then I put the pictures up in the frame, as well as hand the lure up inside the box. It's a nice way to show off the catch of a lifetime. I can show you an example from my house if you're interested in what I'm talking about.

@jkoz88 Here's one I did for a walleye. Those are 5x7 pictures, but you can get as big of a frame and pictures as you want.

  2      X    2    X   2   = 8 pounder?   
 

if so I’ve caught a state record in every state ?

Ya - divide that result by 800. Actual formula is (Lengthxgirthxgirth)/800
