Bass Games

What do y’all do to challenge yourselves, or maybe a format that’s fun to get yourself out of the same ol’ thing ? Different games you play while fishing?

For example, seeing how many different baits you can catch fish on in the same trip. Another one is sectioning off where you fish into zones, and giving yourself 1 hour in each zone. I did that with a friend on my home lake and it was a blast. We started at different ends of the lake , to allow suspense to be part of it.

Not talking tournament formats though, just informal stuff.

I live in Ohio, so just finding a bass to catch is enough challenge!!!

I bank fish. Main game I play is how far away can I get from where I can go to the bathroom.

I've been fishing from the bank this year so I've been playing get the crankbait back to shore without hanging up.

Just like practicing at home, I'll pick a couple specific small targets like a floating leaf or something to pitch to. You've basically got to hit the local drainage ditch fish on the head to get em to bite, right now. So I'll just walk down the bank and toss pitch out 2-3x every 5 ft or so. Keeps it from getting monotonous.

Its not really a game but I bought a digital scale that logs weight .So I weigh my first five fish over 12 inches then continually try to up the weight .I find myself fishing for a bigger bite , especally late in the day .

Haha. I take 8 rods when I go and sometimes use 5 of them before I get a fish.

There is a place full of hungry dinks I got to where you can see what they won't bite. I caught one on a sour gummy worm there once. I made a lure from small shiny wrench after seeing a YouTube video about it. Sort of a jigging spoon type bait. But I haven't used it. I may just put it back on my tool box. It's more useful there.

My usual partner and I play a little game at the end of our day where one of us will ask the other, "ok, if you could win $1m right now to catch a single fish, where would you go and what would you do?"   Then that person will drive the boat to "his" picked spot and try to catch a fish.  Then the other person gets a chance to pick a spot and catch one fish.

We call it "one more, out the door"

Another one Ive done is name each fish alphabetically as you catch them. Allen, then bob , etc. That started at the request of a friend . Helps you keep up with numbers if you’re catching a lot.
