I depends on a few things for me. In big worms like a ribbon tail, I like variations of purple, like tequila sunrise or plain black. In Trick Worms I like the bright colors in off-color water when you're working it like a jerkbait for reaction strikes. But if you're getting finessy with it, I like the watermelons and pumkins. I'm usually getting finessy in clearer water with the smaller 4.5" worm. There's no such thing as "clear water" in most places I go. I also like black/blue flake.

If they won't eat that or my shallow reservoir of fishing knowledge decides the water is too muddy, I'll tie on Junebug.

Green Pumpkin , WM Red , June Bug , Plum Apple , Blue Fleck , Tequila Sunrise and Red Bug all will see summer action on the starting team . Down on the AAA farm teams are combo colors such as Bama Bug , Okeechobee Craw and Texas Craw (half GP / half Red Bug combo) ready to be called up.

Either June Bug or a Senko in green pumpkin with large copper fleck and a chartreuse tail.  Summer Potomac bass seem to like that Senko and a bubble gum worm.

I have done pretty well with a darker/natural color most of the time like green pumpkin.  There are a couple of lakes around here that I fish regularly where the water is quite murky and then I need to use a bright colored version like white or chartreuse.

Watermelon Red. 

Top three lately gotta be purple-ish (morning dawn or plum), chartreuse pumpkin, and motor oil.  I don't throw a ton of worms, but these have been my 2020 choices and they've worked.

Green pumpkin and solid black are what I use most often.

Moon Juice such a underrated color one of my favorites if I need a bite and using soft plastics. Chameleon is another great one from strike king in the rage bug.

*Who fishes a sapphire blue worm (besides Bill Dance) ? ... Not sure what water clarity , deep or shallow for that color ?

I do   . Bass love them .I use them any time except muddy water .All depths .
