Tatsu Dave
Up here in the pine tree state things are changing quickly as fishing wanes and hunting season approaches. Apples and pears are falling now along with acorns, and a killing frost is just around the corner. Got my rifles sighted in and the trail cam has been in use for several weeks, does and yearlings are coming in and the stands are all up and secured. Need to load some ammo for the deer rifles, bear season in swing and moose and grouse season around the corner. Geese are stating to appear behind me on the lake and most feeder birds are headed south now. Trying to get a pic to see if the buck I hunted last year is still around and how much bigger he has gotten, quite a few does and yearlings around this year so the bucks will come during rut. Haven't heard any coyotes this summer so they are in another area I guess, next three or four nights will be in thirties and its time to fish my last couple times next week and then clean up and winterize the boat for the winter. Lucky to have a spot in the garage to keep it thru snowy winter. Well as I get some decent buck pics I'll post em up and you guys south of here continue to keep them lines tight Dave
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted September 18, 2020 Global Moderator Share Posted September 18, 2020 I’ve got a feeling they are going to start making bear season longer around here in the future, those things are causing all kinds of trouble nowadays. There was one eating a dead guy the other day! https://www.smokymountainnews.com/news/item/29829-smokies-bear-euthanized-after-scavenging-human-remains
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 18, 2020 Super User Share Posted September 18, 2020 This is my favorite time of year. Before my son left for college we hunted almost every weekend from opening dove season (September 1) through the close of goose season and deer season in January. That was 16 years ago. I have not hunted since. However, when we moved to Tennessee I discovered winter smallmouth fishing. Woo-hoo!

BoatSquirrel
Best thing about fall is all of the hunters go to the woods and leave the lakes right at prime time! 1
Tatsu Dave
Up here most open water fishing ends Sept 30 only certain places still legal to fish. Thirties at night bring water temps down fast anyway and my personal best deer hunting so far weighed 224lbs. Its about to be prime time in the woods. Saw first racked buck on last nights cam pics. We'll fish Monday and Wednesday this coming week and that will be it this year.
Super User slonezp Posted September 20, 2020 Super User Share Posted September 20, 2020 I'm not a hunter. Have a friend who is. The agreement is, we butcher the deer at my house and I keep 50% of the deer. I just made the last of my venison over the last few weeks in preparation to refill my freezer. I've been eating chili for lunch the last 2 weeks and the week prior was pot roast. Looking forward to some fresh jerky.

We used the last venison up 2 weeks ago, tenderloin and backstrap as well as hindquarter steaks and jerky make me hungry just thinking about it! This morning its 29 and a hard crunchy frost. Going fishing tomorrow morning and that may be it, gonna be 30 again tonight so water temps will be dropping fast. Time to get the boat and trailer cleaned up and ready for winter. Deer are coming in steady to the acorns and apple/pear trees. Fall Is Here.
Super User Jig Man Posted September 20, 2020 Super User Share Posted September 20, 2020 Yes it is coming. I was out Friday evening and never saw a tuber or skier and only one jet ski. It will really be good when the hunters head for the woods instead of the lake.

Don't shoot them as I got no use for one and would rather see them in the wild. Tried some a buddy shot and taste didn't appeal to me (did NOT Taste like chicken) My ticket is the same as a big bass in summer......a big alpha buck with non-typical antlers. They hunt bear up here with bait, dogs, and during firearms deer season. They have video of them in the streets of my town on occasion, I've seen tracks right behind house in my woodlot. Super User N Florida Mike Posted September 21, 2020 Super User Share Posted September 21, 2020 They do the same things in Fl. Hated that FWC had to put this one down, because it was a state record by far. https://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/breaking-news/os-biggest-florida-bear-killed-20150121-story.html?outputType=amp
