For anyone on the fence on putting one in your rig, just do it. Ordered one Black Friday shopping and came in yesterday. Didn’t take but two hours to put in (mostly measuring, remeasuring, and waiting for liquid courage to settle in) and took it out this morning. 

I was having heavy back pain after 4 to 5 hours of fishing. Fished 7 to noon today with drastically better results. If I was a better fisherman and caught anything I wouldn’t have noticed my back at all. It made a world of difference.

Totally agree!  Put one in the deck of mine last spring and loved it so much more!

I looked into doing this on my G3, but from what I read from other G3 owners I can do it but my rod locker will basically be useless except for storing extra tackle.

I have an 08 tracker 175 tx. The rod locker goes dead middle under the pedal tray. 
 

It had 3 rod tubes across the top and an open area below it. I never used the tubes, but did lose them doing the pedal tray. The tray sits right where the tubes were, but I’d trade the tubes for the comfort all day.

I don’t have rod tubes in my locker. I typically don’t fish more than 3-4 hours at a time so I don’t get to the point where discomfort becomes an issue. I’ve never fished a boat with a TM foot tray so I don’t know any different. 

It depends on what kind of pedal you have too. The larger ones with cable steer would likely be worse to use without a recessed area. If your using an electric steer model like a terrova then the pedal isn’t as bulky and it has a much lower profile.

 

My Father has a power drive on his boat and the pedal isn’t more than an inch off the floor so there’s no need for a recessed tray. I’ve never used a cable steer without a recessed tray so I can’t comment on how uncomfortable it might get.

good call man. i put one in my Javelin when i replaced the carpet 3 years ago.

Makes a big difference. I love cable steer, power steer I don’t feel the same control and the motor is just one more thing that can fail. But cable steer will have you looking like captain Morgan with out the recessed pedal.

I have one on my Triton. Was awesome for my Fortrex but I'm covering it up and making it a baby storage locker because it is not good with the wireless Xi5 foot pedal.

I think I saw something that raises the pedal up within the tray. It was featured on *** not long ago.

- wear one tall shoe

- shorten one of your legs
