Tatula LT 2500 can’t cast

Featured Replies

So I picked up a tatula LT 2500 last season and paired it up with an evergreen combat rod 7’1 MH.    Great rod.  Fun to fish but that tatula LT reel I just don’t like.  Could be me.  Maybe not.  LoL.   I’ve tried 8lbs mono, 10lbs mono, 15lbs braid, 10lbs braid and 20lbs braid and it casts horrible.   Finally fixed the line lay issue but I can’t for the life of me get a good cast with this reel.  Maybe it’s the rod?  I dunno.   My Revo X 30 worked just fine with the rod.  Thinking of picking up a 6’10 MXF evergreen. Maybe reel will work better with that?

so my question is for the people that have used this reel, what line are you using on this reel with success?  I’m not having fun with line not wanting to come off the spool on a cast or it just wants to fly off.   Had to go back to my Revo x30 last year a couple times because I found that reel much more enjoyable.

I've never had a spinning reel that couldn't cast well. Most of the time it has to do with the line.

How much line are you putting on the spool?

What weights are you trying to cast?

That is weird, you can cast with Abu but not tatula, same set up, lure weight? Casting spinning should be the same, there is no spool rotation, nor thumb control come to play.

I agree with @mrpao too much line? Too much whip? When casting heavier lure on spinning I like to have at least 2’ from lure to rod tip.

Spool is full with 1/8” lip showing on both.  The Revo x bombs lures.   The tatula does not.  Same rod with each reel.  Same lures I’ve tried and same lines on each reel.  Never a problem with the Revo x with any lines.   ??‍♂️.   Maybe I’ll try fluorocarbon to see if that’s any different with this reel?

I’ve used trilene XL, big game, berkley x5, berkley x9 and suffix 832.

Well, sounds to me like you should just use the revo x

OP.  Something wacky there.  Never used that reel...a bit over budget for me, but the only time I've had problems with distance I've blamed the rod and its small guides.  Obviously not that in your case.  I've read good things about the Tatula Lt.  Hope you get it running well.  Personally that is under-filled for me.  Try filling closer to the bevel and see what happens.  Not guaranteeing a thing.  :lol1:

Some say I overfilled, but I never have problem with all my Daiwa. I cannot say for mono because I only use 10lb braid or Nanofil.

Looks how I like to fill my reels and I use mono mostly.

I have 5 Tatula LT reels 2-1000 (8lb braid), 1-2500 (10lb braid), 2-3000 (10lb braid)

They all cast incredibly, have perfect line management, and are as smooth as day one.

I have no answer for you though.

Spinning reel not casting right. I'd definitely closely look at the rod.

What lb tests were you using with the PE lines?  X9 is the best casting line of the 3.  Even the 15lb test casts pretty well, so it may be something other then the type of line your using thats causing issues.

I would guess its a line lay issue.

I have the same reel with 20lb flame green smackdown I use for Ned rigs. It cast a 1/16oz head with a TRD further that I need it to. Mine is on a 6' 10" ML/XF LTB rod.

I had the Tatula LT 2500 and used Sufix 832 10lb braid and had no problems.  I had it on the ALX Shake which is a ML/Fast.

Do you have another rod that you can put the Tatula LT on, to tryout to see if you are still having the same issue?

I tried it on a MF 6’4 Veritas 3.0.   Still didn’t cast well.   Put the stx20 back on that rod and it just bombs the same lures out.   Both reels now have 10lbs berkley x9 on them.  ??‍♂️.

I give up.  I put the tatula under my Jeep tire and drove over it.   LoL.

thanks for all the help everyone.  There is always one reel that just work for me.   For some reason baitcasters reels by LEWS don’t work for me.  I can never get those dialed in for consistency.   Maybe the tatula LT is the spinning reel that isn’t for me.
