Use Berkley big game mono as your leader. If you insist on using fluoro i would use seaguar blue label

I’m knot going to debate knots. All I will say is that I fish wacky rigs a lot, and I lost more fish on braid-to-leader than I did with straight mono. I like it for weightless TR where I need a solid hookset, but not WR.

SDJ is a) easy to tie correctly b) stronger than any other knot I've tried on flouro - the issue seems to be that flouro hates fast impact shocks, and so the knot matters a lot.

Got to revisit and relearn the SDJ.  Besides this thread, a lot of folks here like this knot.  A few months ago I tied the SDJ about 10 times and I found it weak so I did not trust it.  Obviously operator error. 

If my line was breaking, I would change the line. How is that not an option on the poll? Haha. That rig sounds a little complicated to me, I like good ole “fishin string” (monofilament). It rarely breaks and I use 6# most of the time. When it does break its because I forgot to re tie after a week or two. You want to know the most ironic thing about this whole scenario? Flourocarbon breaks WAY more often than mono....... and costs way more than mono. Such is the fishing industry..........

 

kind of reminds me of when my

mom got a brand new car with all these bells and whistles for “safety” purposes. Well all the bells and whistles went haywire and made the car literally stop working and they gave her the money back haha

THIS x100. Only knot I've used that will outlast my FG knot. I have not tried all of them of course. The name is the double improved clinch knot.

using anything less than 15# fluoro is asking for hook set heartbreak. i’ve tried different knots, different brands, and even holding my mouth right. 

You’re getting big bass to bite, so don’t change anything except the knot. 
 

im old school.   Improved clinch-knot.  No issues.  Kudos to mastering the FG knot.  For me the “F” in FG stands for ...... well we all know what it stands for.
 

Just googled the SDJ.  I like it!  Easy.
