Opinions on these baits.

Featured Replies

So I'm looking at grabbing the prankbait by booyah. Its basically a popper with a bill on it. Anyone use this bait? Your opinion?

I recently tried the biffle bug. Thought the bait would do well but haven't caught anything on it. Anyone fish these?

Last would be the hollow body craw by livetarget. Looks great until you get it home and pool test it. I haven't even tried it yet because it looks horrible to me. I trimmed the skirt on mine to make it puff. Anyone using these?

I use the Biffle Bug Jr. texas rigged quite a bit. I only use two colors - black neon and smoke/silver glitter.

I've also used the regular Biffle Bug on a Biffle Hard Head swing jig at Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn and caught fish.

Biffle Bugs are great, the cavity gives you all kinds of options to match conditions.  You can pinch the legs and tails off to make it fish like a tube except you have a much better hookup ratio.  The colors are really good as well.  Blackberry Sapphire, PBJ, Dark Watermelon Pumpkin Purple and Mad Bluegill can cover just about any situation.  If I could only have 1 color I would probably go with Sooner Run, its like a dark watermelon/watermelon red laminate.  The dark watermelon almost makes it look black which gives it a good silhouette for stained water while still looking natural in clear water.  The drawback of this bait is the durability, sometimes you can get 3 or 4 fish from one bait and other times 1 fish can blow the top out of the bait.

The popper with the diving bill makes me say, "huh?"   Don't know what to say about the LIVETARGET bait.   IMO the Biffle Bug ain't a bad bait, I've caught a few fish on it.

No offense but that live target bait screams "gimmick" to me.

It's a Live Target, that's all they sell. They've got a couple good baits, but most catch fisherman and very few fish.

I've caught fish with the Prank, but it's better to either fish a popper or a wake bait IMO.

I can't get on the Biffle Bug hype train. I had some and they just did not produce for me, and I love creature baits.

I think the popper is interesting . The largest Kentucky bass I ever caught was with a chugger and using a steady retrieve . It pushed a big bulging wake out in front of it and wiggled a bit . That popper may do the same thing .

The only thing the booya popper wake caught was me. I watched bass look at it and swim off.

Totally off topic but which one is more gimmick? Live Target or Lunkerhunt?

Anyways i live in the home of the biffle bug and have yet to try it. Heck ive been to the Gene Larew factory, and still havent tried it. But I did just start using swing heads a few months ago and never used a beaver style bait either. Maybe soon I'll try them.

I'm a fan of the Biffle Bug. I've done well with it Texas rigged while flipping to docks when a jig wasn't getting it done.

Honestly, I wouldn't fish that craw bait if it was given to me.

The Prankbait is an interesting idea, but I won't give an opinion without trying it.

Yeah, that's kind of Livetarget's entire business model.

Lunkerhunt has a few baits that I actually like, particularly their topwater frogs and spiders.

I've pitched and flipped the Bug with some success but best results have been with the hardhead and fish it like a squarebill.

Live Target by a margin similar to Secretariat's at the Belmont...
