Cool! I think we reportedly only have the ruby throated ones over this way, and maybe another but I can’t recall 

I moved to Germantown in 1996 and have lived in my home for over twenty years.

In addition to general bird feeders I have two hummingbird stations. Over time we

have attracted nearly every bird species that reside or visit here, including the

little birds. We have never seen this hummingbird before.   

 

p.s. This guy is flying solo.

Hummingbirds are amazing little birds and surprisingly selfish around the feeders. 

We have so many of them, have to keep 5 feeders up and running to reduce the aggression. 

Cool beans.  All we get is the ruby throat.

I keep about a 1/2 dozen feeders out.  Most of ours are the Ruby throated but there are usually several others also.  However this year when they migrated into my area, they seemed to have migrated on through.  I had several visiting the feeders early in the migration but now, I haven't seen a one in almost a month.  My neighbor, who also generally has numbers of them, hasn't had any at her feeder in almost a month.   I'm hearing this same thing for others as well.

I keep a bunch of Blue Jays, red birds (Cardinals) Blue birds and several other species constantly feeding from the tray feeder I have out.  The Blue birds have their own mill worm feeder.  It's kind of funny, when there are no peanuts in it for the Blue Jays, there are a couple of them that will get in a tree near me and start raising h***.   I'll go put nuts in it for them, they shut up, go get some and on their way for a little while, but I keep a pretty good stream of them coming and going.

The ruby throats just started showing up at my wife's feeders as well as the orioles to her jelly feeder. I guess some people here have been seeing black throats though, so she's hopeful. 

I saw my first ruby-throated yesterday.  And I got a good look...  I was chatting with a friend at her house and didn't realize I was standing next to/under the hummingbird feeder.  I heard a buzzing sound approaching fast and looked up to see a hummer headed right for my face.

 

He gave me a couple of dust-offs before I moved away from his buffet.

 

 

Sitting on the patio and the first humming bird I've seen in a month showed up.  Actually we saw three of them, one at a front feed and a couple at the back feeders.  One was the Ruby Throated, the other two were a lot smaller and darker.
