Just got back . Did so-so . Caught all three species of bass using suspending jerkbaits around shoreline cover. Caught smallmouths 10 to 20 foot down  on bluff outcroppings with tubes and a 1/8th ounce  head .

I dont do a lot of jerkbait  and tube fishing here so it was a fun changeup . Jerkbaiting wore me out , the tube fishing 20 foot deep was fun . When in Rome do as the Spartans do .

We had two boats on the lake and one boat on the river. The bass fishing was so-so,

but my brother wacked 'em. The guys that chose the river had four days in heaven,

both numbers and size.

The lake produced several 3's but most of our smallmouth didn't measure. My biggest

fish was a walleye that we let the guide take home. On a bright note, my brother caught

at least eight bass all four days and twelve on our last outing. Fish were caught on a Space

Monkey, Rage Swimmer and grubs, but most were fooled by a Gitzit.

Below the dam the White River was extremely low with very little water release. It's crazy

to have the lake 30' above full pool and yet the Corps of Engineers is still holding water back.

We were shocked to have such a strong bite with such low water flow. On day one the men

caught over 100 trout including a dozen +/- 20".   Fourteen were brown trout, the rest rainbows

on day 1.

My brother and I fished Bull Shoals Lake exclusively. My brother was catching, for me it was

mostly "fishing". I caught five or six each day, but none were picture worthy. Jerry, Mike and

Steve landed eight to twelve fish each day they were on the lake, but that paled to the action

on the river. The river still had some current at minimum flow, but none on the lake.

So, the bottom line:  Best trout trip in over twenty years. Maybe next time it will be

bass.
