Today is free fishing Saturday in Texas. I lasted about 10 minutes before I had to pack up and leave. The amount of trash being left behind...the yelling...the people...”hey buddy, do you fish?” Ugh. 

Am I just getting old and crabby? I’m all about people experiencing fishing but...

 

I guess I can stay home 1 day of 365. Never going to subject myself to that again.

I avoid any water that has shore access on free fishing weekend. And I spend the next couple weeks cleaning up after those heathens.

 

Would love to be some sort of law enforcement person for the weekend. I'd set some records with litter citations.

This is free fishing weekend in Kentucky. I don't fight the weekend crowd anyway but I sure wouldn't go this weekend. The weather forecast has a lot of rain for every day this week so it will be a while before I get to go again.

I'm young...and crabby. I also refuse to deal with all the free fishing degenerates.

Last year Missouri had free fishing spring.  I think the idea was to get more people into fishing so they would by fishing license.  When the free fishing ended so did the crowds, but they left all of their trash behind.

Next Saturday is the day in Tennessee.  They hold special events, usually at small lakes in local park.  The wildlife resource officers are at these events and help kids learn to fish.  When they catch their first fish they give them a certificate.  That’s all great but it means there’s no law enforcement at all the other lakes in the state.  Free for all Saturday.

Pro tip: If you don’t pay attention to when free fishing day actually occurs, you won’t notice any difference

Today I had a boater follow me around while I was bank fishing. He saw that I was doing well so he thought that by fishing the same location he would have my same success. He did not catch nothing in the time I was there. I left him alone and went to another location where I continued catching more fish.
