Flipping docks is my bread and butter at my home lake this time of year, as it is a somewhat featureless dishpan type of lake.

 

What line would you recommend to help reduce break-offs from rubbing on dock poles, boat lifts, etc?  I know that some breakage is inevitable, but I'd like to see if I can put the odds a little more in my favor.

 

Line visibility is not much of a factor - this lake gets nasty algae blooms in the summer.

I like braid on all my flipping and spinning rods. It's tough on wood. But I also agree with the above guys recommending 15-20# Berkley Big Game. They're both great. I just like the peace of mind of knowing a big bass is not going to fray my line on anything. On the other hand you do have the ability to break the mono if you have to.

I'll try some Big Game.  Any size braid I've tried has been cut with ease by a hard charging bass.

If braid is getting cut, then there's probably some metal cables down there or rusted metal structures.  Something that's sawing your line.  So your best bet will probably be a fluorocarbon.  It's harder and smoother than braid, so it'll take more abuse from sawing.  Mono is softer and will nick more easily, but will still probably hold up better than braid due to being a singular filament.
