Trying to learn how to read side imaging but was curious of what this could be circled in blue, I’m assuming the other picture on the left side is trees?

Yeah I wish I had took more pictures, but first thing I said to my brother was it looks like a house, or maybe a mobile home or something the river floods bad that I went to so might got swept away. Idk, looked neat to me but thanks for the help. 

Maybe a dog house or smaller shed, does it say you’re moving 3.95 mph? I might have to know more about your water but the left side image looks like maybe a single small tree laying on rock veins, I see them almost everywhere along TN river where it’s not mud bottom .

Yes that was my speed, the water I was fishing was the Kentucky river, it was stained water I would say, not really muddy not bad at least. Only access from the bank is all a sand bank then the rest of it is just rock walls all the way down. So how can you tell it’s rocky? I’m trying my best to interpret everything.

Here’s another pic correct me if I’m wrong but the more the yellow means rocky bottom right? Or like a hard bottom?

Typically the brighter the return the harder the bottom, so your last picture should be a harder bottom.

Gotcha, that’s what I was thinking but wasn’t sure. Appreciate the help!

The "house" or whatever it is is in deeper water than 19.8ft. When looking at the 1st image, the bright yellow is the bottom at 19.8ft and is the top of a ridge that drops off. You determine that by the shadow. Unfortunately we can't tell if its a 5' drop or a 20' drop. Next time you're in the area, see if you can get right on top of it. Whatever it is, its man made, as what might be a gravel drive directly below it

Mother Nature doesn’t make square edges so imagine one is man made for sure.

Will do for sure, I’m using a garmin echomap if I’m right over top of it should I try to view it in clearvu?

yeah those 2 little humps with the hard bottom like like some sort of road bed leading to thet little building.

The “structure” looks like it is 7-10 ft wide.

What has me baffled are the shadows I have circles on your last image.  It looks like you're following a road bed or something and it's on every image you posted.   Do you know what this is?

I have no clue it was my first time at this spot, it’s boonesboro boat ramp Kentucky river, there’s a rock quarry beside it, I don’t know if that has anything to do with it.

How can you judge the size of it? I’ve been trying to learn but I can’t get the hang of it

The numbers at the bottom of the screen are this distance in feet from the transducer.  It's not the distance out from the transducer but the distance directly from the transducer to what ever is reflecting the sonar signal.  The building fits between the 30 and 45 ft numbers so it's less than 15 feet wide.  I'm guessing it about 10ft wide (horizontally).  The length (vertically) is harder to determine because it depends on the speed of the boat and the update speed of the fishing finder.

Ahhh….that’s really helpful thank you! I went back and looked at all the screenshots I took and everyone of them has that dark spot that looks like a road bed, I’m trying to figure that out now…being a river is it possible for a road bed to be under it?

It looks like there is a drop about 5 ft out on both sides. That's the shadow I circled.  It's like you were following along an old road bed or a ridge about 10 feet wide.  If it's always there then that's very puzzling.  Maybe someone the same brand fish finder can explain it.

Next time I go back I’ll take more screenshots in different views, hopefully I’ll have my livescope by then and it will explain a lot. I’ll keep you updated 

This simplifies how you should be deciphering your imaging.

 

There is no telling what you’ll see on the bottom.  The Kentucky river did experience significant flooding in March.  I recall seeing videos of all kind of debris, including a house or two, floating down the river.
