I use both, have no problems.  Different strokes for different folks.  

 

If one is having trouble with one or the other I suggest simply keeping on using them and most likely it will become second nature.

I can't even stand to use right-handed spinning reels.  I always have to spin with my right hand and hold the rod in my left.  Nothing else feels right.  I'd rather (and often do) cast left-handed if switching hands is a problem.  

 

Though I can say with confidence, that you can easily learn to do it either way if you're willing to put in the time.  Fishing isn't a supremely coordinated activity like writing or playing a musical instrument.  I would guess that after 20-40 hours, you'd adapt quite well.  I just didn't care enough to put in that effort when what I had been doing had never let me down before.  If it's ain't broke...

Right hand dominant but can cast/operate a bait casting rig with either hand.  Recently purchased a LH (left side handle) casting reel just because it was a couple of hundred dollars off but I didn't find it to be an improvement since I am so used to casting left handed using conventional RH bait casting gear.  Never tried LH spinning gear.

Grew up fishing the old Zebco 33 (rod in left hand, reel with my right). When I got my first spinning rod, had to learn how to hold the rod with my right hand...and reel with my left. Got pretty good at both...

 

When spinning reels started having changeable reel positions, I experimented with the left side...couldn't cast well...so stayed with a right hand cast for spinning rods. 

 

When I got my first bait-casters, held rod with the left and reeled with the right...

 

Been doing it that way ever since. 

 

One of the nice perks of this method...if my arm gets tired / sore from casting the spinning rod (right hand), I simply pick up the bait-caster and I'm now fishing with my left : ) 

I’ve been doing it with both lefty and righty  it’s really what’s mor comfortable for you you can pick up a cheap one to try out and then go from there 

Always wanted a Chronarch D7 and when a 101 appeared 3 ir 4 yrs ago I picked it up. 

 

I buy left handed reels now. Still use both, and probably still like right better for higher resistance.

 

 

I ran across an amazing deal on a lefty bait caster several years ago but couldn’t adjust. It was a fun experience and ended up making $50 selling the reel on ebay

I did the same thing. Used RH for years and accidentally bought a LH. Now I use both
