So I'm cruising on tackle warehouse like I'm want to do these days and I remember these. Then it dawns on me one of my best producing baits ever is a 4in curl tail worm I used to get at wal mart yet I've never tried these. What's my problem?

put that baby on a slider head and light line and swim it around grass, rocks logs , whatever. caught tons that way in pressured clear water. like the ned rig before the ned rig. camo was my favorite color.

I’d like to have $0.10 for every bass I caught on a 4” Power Worm.  I’ve never stopped using them. 
 

They've been around since the early 80’s. The younger guys now were not fishing when that worm was available in many more colors. At one point in time I thought they were gonna stop making it. 
 

Berkley had a 4” crawler that has been stopped for many years. Flatter tail like a Charlie Brewer Slider worm. Ton of color choices for it and real popular. Don’t have any idea why Berkley cuts back. A lot of competition and styles out there I guess. 

I always have better luck with 7in version.  Not sure why.  I have used the 4in version for crappie as well but in that case I like the 3 and 4in Powertail Grub better.  Maybe I need to revisit this bait.

My brother used to buy black with chartreuse tails by the hundred. I’ve caught hundreds of smallies on the Potomac with them. Fishing doesn’t have to be complicated.

I picked up some very similar Mister Twister Poc it Phenom worms this year and fished them on a EWG Ned head and caught a ton of fish on them. Unfortunately, I think they're discontinued, need to pick up some more while I can still find them. 

I think you are talking about the ones made for trout? They float by the way but do catch trout, probably could hook a few bass as well but they are super skinny

Nope they make a 4in curl tail designed for bass

Do you swim those very often? Seems like it would be a good way to cover a little water and get a lot of bites. I keep meaning to grab some packs of these but always get distracted by something else

This with a solid black worm is my go-to bait on the Upper Potomac when things get tough.

Carolina Crawler I think?  I used to bang em up on that worm as a kid.  I was using them the first time I had one of those days where you just beat em down.  Black with the blue tail on a 1/8 slider head.  I would have fished it more, but it was later that summer that I first got my hands on a goofy looking bait called a Senko.  After that the power worms took a back seat.

I just hop them around on bottom or lift-drop next to cover.  But you could swim them too.

Yeah, I use them in Black, GP, and Pumpkinseed more or less interchangeably.

Flip that sucker in the spring if you have flooded buck brush. 

I'm a huge fan of 4" curl tail worms.  I mostly fish UL/light gear so those baits are a staple.  But on the downside, if you fish where there are bream/panfish, you'll get a lot of spurious hits from them.  Where they work, they work extremely well, but they are frustrating in bream/panfish waters.
