New monos/copolys/fluorocarbons

Featured Replies

I've been out of fishing for a bit now, at least I haven't been keeping up with the latest and greatest like I used to - what are the best monos/copolymers and fluorocarbons out there right now - low stretch/sensitivity, durability, castability are priorities....price isn't an issue (i know some of the fluoros get pricey)....any info is appreciated!

Line can be a personal thing.  Everyone has their own opinions on them.

My favorite FC is Tatsu. I have yet to find it's equal. I have fished a spool of it for four seasons on one of my main setups. Just phenomenal line but pricey. If you can use it for as long as I did, it's worth it.

For mono, Sunline Deifer.  I would say the same thing about it as I did with Tatsu, except it's mono.

Not a huge mono guy, but usually Stren if I do. For Fluro, I use seaguar, red label and Invisx, Berkley Vanish. They all did good.

What I use...

Flourocarbon: Seaguar Tatsu or InvizX

The only monofiliment line I still consistently use is Yo-Zuri Hybrid.

When I do use a mono or fluoro (which I have one reel spooled with each right now), I usually go with whatever I can find that's cheap and not garbage.  At the moment, that's Sunline FC Sniper and Berkley Big Game.  They both work good enough, and I'm not paying Tatsu prices.

McCoy xtra-clear co-polymer is the best copoly i've used and does not get talked about AT ALL. i like it better than p-line, sufix, yo-zuri.

as for as fluoro goes, i stick with seaguar invisx 99% of the time

i'll use copoly for a lot of my moving baits. chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, swimbaits, swimijgs, etc.

What I consider the best has already been mentioned, but ill throw out a few thoughts.

FC- Tatsu is as good as it gets, but Invisx and Sunline Sniper are are almost (but not quite) as good for significantly less money. Look into your knot here, it is the weak spot and some play better with fc than others.

Mono- Sunline... but I usually use Big Game, its really good AND really cheap.

Mono has an exaggerated diameter for its lb rating. Most will actually hold 3-6lbs more than stated before failing. (I think Sunline might be an exception here, but can't confirm).
