Was talking with a nice bass fisherman this morning and we were sharing stories and techniques.

He recently won a tournament and handed me a pack of flick shake worms and said try these.

It's obvious that they are more of a finesse worm and ideally used on a light Wacky jig.

 

I've yet to stray from the proven Senko but this guy was adamant, claiming they'd out fish a Wacky rigged Senko everyday. Lol

 

Anyone use them ?

The pack he handed me said Jackal 4.8 in Watermelon pepper.

i got some years ago based on glowing reports here, but couldn't get bit on them.....probably didn't give them a fair shake.....

I have a pack of those worms but I can't say I've ever caught a fish on them. I have caught fish on a flickshake rig, which to me is simply a weighted wacky. Or is it only a flickshake if you're using those worms?

 

I find that a knockoff senko/basically any stick worm works well for flickshake/weighted wacky because once you add weight to a wacky rig, any old worm gets that wobbling action that the senko is famous for. I like to use it in submerged grass where a 1/8 or 1/16 flickshake jig will rest just on top of the submerged grass without breaking through or hanging up. Another way I've fished it is by bouncing it around in some shallow current. Cast upstream and just hop it as the current takes it downstream.  

Just in case someone may be curious here's a pic with a preformed bend in tail.

I'll give them a go in the morning and perhaps defeat the bait monkey.

flick Shake Watermelon Candy 4.8 rigged 1/8 oz drop shot #1 mosquito hook out fishes 5” wacky weightless rigged Senko’s most of the time for me. Both are good.

I fish the flick-shake presentation more often then a weightless wacky, esp when I am in the yak.  I use a mix of Senkos and Trickworms  

 

I do use actual Flick-Shake worms as well, but only the smaller sizes, I think the 3.8/4.8 size.  I bought a lot of them off of ebay years ago and am still working through them.  With a 1/16oz head I get a presentation that fishes "light", but weighs enough to work in a wind that would play havoc with other finesse presentations.

Ha! My default is 3/32 oz, so that sounds about right.

1/16 looks ideal for this bait. Will be giving it it's" fair shake " tomorrow ?

This is my take on it too. I’ll use Falcon or Gammy weighted wacky hooks, usually in 3/32. When the guys in my club talk about the Flick Shake they are usually referring to the Jackal heads and worms. Honestly I don’t really see the difference.

The 4.8 FS in bluegill w/ 1/32 owner wacky head gets it done for me.  I think they work so well because the action/profile is different from most baits.  They get thrown nearly as much as a senko or trickworm either.

Bass pro also has a house version of this that it pretty good too.  I use their version of this work in a 5" and their 4" senko type baits on vmc 1/16 jig heads. The flick shake worms fall faster and have lots of wiggle while the shorty senko copy falls slower with less wiggle.  On a hot bite I throw the flick shake worms but when I need to let that bait slowly fall in front of their face I throw the 4" bps senko.  Both baits are durable enough that I don't use o rings or any other holder 

One of my best presentations for clear water.  Cola is my favorite color with watermelon pepper coming in second.  Heads are 1/8 or 3/32 which I started making my own.

Caught my best fish of the day on the flick shake but caught the most on a Keitech easy shiner. 

Water was clear and fish didn't want anything that resembled power fishing.
