Pflueger .5 cent part irritating me

Featured Replies

Own 5 pflueger reels, president, XT,s,  supreme. I swap my handle from side to side every hour so to keep my body balanced, or i should say wear my shoulders out equally.

The darn cap that covers the the reel handle insert is made out of cheap plastic and easilly strips out from constant removing it side to side.

So irritating when i swap handle and it takes me 5 minutes to try to get the cap to not cross thread and get it to screw on or if stripped put it on ever so lightly so it will not fall off.

The worst thing is i cant even order the cap from the manufacturer so i have to steal from my other reels the cap.

Once you find it I suggest you just buy more rods and set up half and half. It makes much more sense to than swapping on the water.

Pretty sure OP is talking about the dust cap that threads into the opposite side of the handle on a spinning reel. Kinda surprising that pflueger doesn't offer it. I would think that would be the most lost/damaged part on any spinning reel. This one looks about right for my wife's trion but not the same part number so I'm not sure.

I don’t think they envisioned constant changing side to side when they designed swapping handles. The cap might come as part of the handle assembly. You might have to look for a parts reel

You are probably correct.  But it seems like a big oversight to me.  My mom and I reel with right hand and my sisters and father reeled with left hand....my wife reels with her left hand....I've been switching handles in boats ever since I found 'convertible' models.

yes the dust cap, the one i needed on the site reads as no longer available.

Now i know why some of the reels on display at stores are missing dust caps.

Sadly, that's not why ...

Yup.  Why nearly half my baitcast reels have handles on the right side. To give my dominate rod arm a rest.
