Balsa squarebill

Bagley Balsa B 2 and the Rapala DT Fat 3. I also have a lot of others and some really expensive ones as well. The Balsa B and DT fat aren't expensive but work exceptionally well.

I like the Black Labels for a reasonably priced and still great quality bait.

Cliff Pace bought the duplicators from Ed Chambers  ( WEC ) estate after he passed and is really making some great stuff.

I like Dave's also but they are going to be in the $ 50 range.

Rapala BX Brat

I probably don't understand, or use squarebills right.   My favorite crank I fish in squarebill situations is Rapala Ott's garage tiny 4.  It's a flatside balsa crank, not a square bill.  They're fairly fragile though.

i class the OG as a squarebill also. I fish the 6’s in the spring prespawn when the fish want a tighter wobble. The dt fat is my summer square.

This season, it's been the Bagley Balsa Pro Sunny B Squarebill and the Rapala BX Brat (the deeper running one). I ran through a few of the Bagleys before I found a couple that ran the way I like.  That's the way it is with mass produced lures.

I can't afford the hand carved ones.

Still in production,  but barely- Norman Fat Boy. They are down to just two colors and I think it's a shame. Glad I'm sitting on about 30 of them.

Sorry-these aren't balsa. I need more coffee.

Mine is a locally made one by Black Canoe Balsa. The guy makes them in his garage and it's been a really good bait for me.

I have dozens of Bagley Balsa B 2's dating back to the 1980's made before Jim Bagley sold out that I still have confidence in.

I also use the Original Tennessee Shad crankbaits. They were originally made by Boots Anderson and he then sold out to Lonnie Warwick and Roy Winston. I still use these also.

In the past 3-4 years I've also started using the Black Label Tackle balsa baits. They are a top quality lure.
