Has anyone found any deals on buying drop shot weights in bulk? I have had a few unlucky days where I lost 5 or 6 of them on snags and have to keep buying more so I would like to just stock up, primarly on 1/4oz since that is the norm.

I largely stopped using Amazon for certain items, including fishing tackle due to either massive price markups or getting a fake tracking number and never receiving anything and having to wait a few months to get my money back.

No - but in the case of 'lost' shipments, Amazon has been very good about getting me my money back within a couple days.

 

Months? d**n man - that's just way outside my experience.

The problem is people send a fake tracking number, Amazon accepts it so I have to wait.

 

I've had so many bad experiences with this and I tried to report the sellers but they haven't taken action, so I largely go somewhere else.

I probably should get tungsten in MA. I believe the lead ban is anything under 1oz.

@Siebert Outdoors do you do bulk?

Lead drop shot weights are so readily available.  i buy as needed.  3/16th is my norm.

 

just picked up a small bag with 25 count.  no big deal.  i like tungsten better for the most part, but of all the techniques, i think DS requires littlt fanfare with the sinker.

Ya, but like Dean mentioned - his state bans lead under a certain weight...so he has to go steel or tungsten.

I also put it in a followup - I didn't even think of that until I almost bought the lead ones that Ken linked and I'm like hey those could get me fined in the states I fish in.

I think you’re good using lead dropshot weights  @Boomstick, as long as they aren’t individually over 1 ounce per weight.

I’ve have good luck buying bulk from eBay, very competitive prices, quality, in quantities from 10-100. 

I don’t want to sound cheap. But I find split shot  to be as practicable if not more. Cause a lot less total losses.

Yes I've bought from Nako a couple of times with no issues. And I also bought from Siebert, mentioned just down thread. Also very good.

I think you have that backwards and it's as long as they are not individually UNDER 1 ounce. My state of NH prohibits any use of lead for fishing equipment. This includes weights and even lures like spinnerbaits, jigs, and chatterbaits. 

RIf you went to 1/8 oz tungsten Drop Shot cylinder weights should help in reducing or eliminating snags.

I tie a simple overhand knot on the tag end of the leader to help reduce the from slipping off.

3/16 is heavy for me, 1/4 oz only in windy conditions.

I only use two sizes - 1/8 for most conditions, 1/4 if it's windy or I go deep.

Thanks for the clarity on that @JbroBass, and I’m sorry that’s the circumstances you have to work around.

.80 cents per tungsten pencil weight that is 1/2 the size of lead isn’t a bank breaker imo. 

Definitely give the 1/8 oz a try. I use 1/8 oz to 20’ + with 4.8” to 6” wacky rigged and node hooked finesse worms every outing. 25’ to 35’ go to 3/16 oz, windy go to 1/4 oz.

Ya - I got dissatisfied with Amazon for this reason...even canceled my Prime. Lots of times I can find the same thing cheaper elsewhere.

Example - I'm looking at a Nasci 1000. Amazon want's $129, TW wants $109...I can pop down to Scheels or over to Omnia and get it for $99.

Yeah I know, @JbroBass kindly pointed it out earlier in the thread. Some local politician a couple years ago tried to float similar legislation which fortunately didn’t get very far.
