It's been a few years now. My PB smallmouth came back in September of 2015 she was #5 even

PB Largemouth was in September of 2018 and she weighed just fractions over 7 lbs. 5 oz.

One of my goals for the upcoming season is to catch a new PB smallie. Our tournament schedule has a 2 day tourney on a body of water that I feel like that's a very real possibility and I also have a trip planned with a friend to another body of water that is known for some very large smallies. Not sure if I'll ever catch one the size of those "menderchuck" brown bass though! It might be a while before I can break the largemouth PO again though. I'm sure there's a few bigger swimming up here somewhere, but they're very few and far between.

  • Caught in 1993= 30 years. I knew when I caught her I would probably not ever beat it, but I am still casting. In fact leaving in half hour to fish the St. Johns River here in Fl.

I guess I have been lucky with more recent PB's for both largemouth & smallmouth. My smallie PB was May 2022 & my largemouth PB was Oct 2020.

  • PB Brown bass came on the morning of 12 Sept 2017 ~ Until I saw her, I thought for sure she was a pike. But nope - came in a 7.29 lbs.  https://youtu.be/frJAlndpO7E   My

Found the details of my PB smallmouth. It weighed 4.69 pounds and was part of a 5 fish 21.25# catch. This was back in Nov. 2014. Our state record smallie is just over 7 pounds and has stood for over 30 years. Around here (IN), a legit 5+ pound smallie is about as rare as a 9 or 10 pound bass - they do get caught, but not very often, and certainly not as frequent as they used to be. Not even sure where the best shot for one around here would be - perhaps our little portion of Lake Michigan , so I'd probably have to go to another state to break it.

I’m a leader, not a follower ? All these teens paying big bucks to buy pre-torn jeans these days that I’ve been wearing forever ? …and yes, that’s Wheeler

If he keeps trying, he’ll make it one day ?
