I can’t see them being any more stressed than an outboard jet.

If something does go wrong on those motors I do  believe  it’s going to be quiet expensive.

Ask anyone who's ever owned a Suzuki and they will all tell you the same thing, the best outboard motors ever made.....by far. I've owned every brand, I live on the coast and surrounded by boats, and everyone will say the same thing.

The fact that they are pushing the hp and rpm limits on these new 4 strokes makes me concerned. Kinda like a nascar racing engine, they are getting over 700 hp at 9K plus rpm, great performance but short life!

Cant help but see the same thing in these new high hp 4 stroke outboards !!

There certainly isn't anything cheap about buying, running, or maintaining them, but as long as you keep them within operating range, and not abuse them, 4 strokes have proven very reliable. They are usually happiest with a WOT of 5600-6000 RMP, and a cruise in the mid 4000s, but that will vary with the hull. Most guys I know trade them around 2000-2500 hours, and the guys that buy them usually get another 1000 hours or so without major issues. The original pair of Yamaha 250s on our tournament wagon 2002 26' CC are still going strong with their 3rd owner, and last I heard they had close to 4000 hours on them. Of course, just like cars, anything can break at any time. Break Out Another Thousand...
