Tatula SV103 vs SV70

Featured Replies

I’m trying to decide which reel to buy between the SV70 and the SV103. With my Omnia points plus promo code I can get the 103 for around $148 and the 70 for $165. Is the 70 worth the extra cash? It’s gonna be going on my 7’2” MF Okuma Psycho Stick for mostly 1/4oz finesse jigs. Thank you

To me, no.

The 70/80/Alphas aren't Aldebaran small, but they're small. Do you like small reels? Small doesn't always mean the most comfortable depending on your hand size/shape. Daiwa somehow managed to make the Tat 80's narrow spool weigh as much as a Tat CT's, so I'd guess the 70 SV's doesn't weigh any less than the 12-ish gram SV103's, which in that case there wouldn't be much of a light-bait casting advantage gained by the 70. However, if the 70 has the gear train of the 80, which it should, it'll be quite smooth running. The Tat 80 is a very smooth reel.

To me it is.  The 70 is an alphas platform without the double supported pinion.  I'll take the hyper gears, aluminum side plate and small form for a slight increase in price.

Sweet yeah I ended up ordering the SV70. Got that coming in now along with 2 St Croix LTBs and I got 2 rebates for those Daiwa Huk hoodies. I think I’m done buying stuff for a while ?

I mailed mine in last week and just got the shipping notification today. Not bad considering many rebates seem to take a lifetime to receive.

Reading on Daiwas website I see it says “Hyper Double Support” so it seems as if it has double supported pinion. Pretty much a USDM Alphas SV it looks like. Can’t wait to get it lol

Mine took about a week to turn around, and it is a VERY nice hoodie. Sizing is pretty true, but maybe just a tick on the small side. . . . maybe.

Me too. Watching myself get bigger. Hey, it's been a long winter.
