Bought a used outdoor knife set

Featured Replies

Purchased this knife set at an estate sale for $17.00. We were in need of a good long lasting filet knife with some meat on the blade not the cheapo knifes i was purchasing that were as flexable as a razor blade.

This kit has not been filet tested by my wife yet but from cutting up meats from the store it sure holds its edge and cuts awesome.

You got a super deal. If you don’t already know, learn how to keep the blade sharp and sharpen it if it gets dull. It just takes practice. I have 49 cent bait knives that are razor sharp. There’s no need to spend a ton of money on knives

I'll disagree. Cheap blades don't hold an edge long no matter how well you sharpen them.  Thats not to say you need top end everything though.  My kitchen knives are middle of the road Henckels and they hold an edge far better than cheaper knives.

Most important thing on any knife for me is the handle and shape for the intended use.  A knife is no good if you cant hold it in your hand comfortably.

Correct, wife also wants a knife that she doesnt have to sharpen on the rock every minute while she is cleaning the fish, usually at night with only a flashlight for light.

I remember that kit the OP got.  I’m surprised all the parts are there!   Nice kit.

I’m tiptoeing so I don’t wake my knife monkey.  I went off the rails once.  Yikes. I love nice knives ..

Most of our kitchen knives are Victornox as is one of my filet knives.  Cheap knives are dangerous if not sharpened constantly.
