Let’s start a structure fishing thread. I just walked the banks of this area. Looks pretty good to me, and I really just wanna fish the whole thing… but let’s have a fun talk regardless. What jumps out to you from this photo? What do you like?

Not a lot of water here so no reason not to graph all of the interesting structure that's less than 40 feet deep and see what's down there.  The most interesting structure to me is the point with the fish symbol but there are others that also look good.   As fall approaches I'd look for bait fish moving into that cove at the top.

From shore, I'd target that point and cove on the lower right side.  Reason being the slower drop on that point vs.the sharp drops of the points on the left.  As there is no scale, it's impossible to figure where a 30yrd cast would get you as 20yrds would be needed to fish the base of those.  Also, other than the standing timber noted on the map, there is no indication of any cover.

Got plenty of standing timber hanging around. Not just in the areas indicated. A lot I can see, but I suspect there is a lot more under the surface. There is also rock in some places

The point you are referencing was…. interesting…. To walk. Water is low so I can walk out onto it

I’d fish the edge of that submerged river channel.   Go deep. 

River channel swings next to the bank & the cove above it.

I like the point at the mouth of the little cove on the east side. Right above the 415 scale.

I'm diggin' the area in the lower right, between the "415" and the shore

Everything else being equal, I would fish that flooded timber along the steep bank, and along the river bed.

these are probably the areas I'd be looking at. probably the point with the fish marker too. But I so greatly love a flat with a dropoff

TThe point to the left where Catt is fishing is a classic spot.

The cove is also full of flooded timber and both the small points that extend into the center of the cover look interesting.

How low is the water? The road bed and yellow structure? Could come into play during winter.

Overall it all looks good....from a boat!

Should be in about 35ft. Not too deep. I don’t like fishing that deep but it’s not too deep

Which direction does the river flow?  How much flow is there?  Is it a power company lake?  IF the river flow toward the top of the screen, and it's flowing (ie the generators are on if it's a power company lake) the point on the right side of the cove at the top will be golden.  If the river flows the other way the point at the top left of the cove.

Great q. River flow is left to right, dam is releasing 56 cfs, and I do not believe utilized by a power company. USACE runs it

I haven't checked out the culvert over there yet. It doesn't show up on my fish finder mapping, mild inconvenience. I have to go find it. 

 

All this structure talk is making me wanna go bass fish! I'm sticking to my break, but will probably drop a line for catfish here soon. Still gives my body a break
