bradster
Now that it's Fall, is it better to fish early in the morning (when it's colder) or in the afternoon (when it's warmer)? Thanks much! brad

Solution JackstrawIII Posted September 16, 2023 Solution Share Posted September 16, 2023 Disclaimer: I’m not a pro. This time of year, the only thing that seems to make a difference is cloud cover. So, if it’s cloudy in the morning, I go then. If it’s cloudy in the evening, I go then. Low clouds and low barometer are even better.

Will Ketchum
The water is colder in the fall so I would wait for the sun to come up and warm things up a little.

Super User gimruis Posted September 16, 2023 Super User Share Posted September 16, 2023 I have posed this question here before too. The overnight low temperature seems to be a big factor. If it's clear skies and the temp has dropped significantly, I think it's better to wait to start later in the morning or towards midday. As @JackstrawIII indicated, cloud cover over night acts an insulator and can keep over night low temps higher. Then it is worth going right away in the morning. Just my 2 cents

Super User Swamp Girl Posted September 17, 2023 Super User Share Posted September 17, 2023 I second cloud cover. If I can, I avoid fishing when it's sunny. Cloudy fishing is my goal spring, summer, and fall.
Super User Bankbeater Posted September 17, 2023 Super User Share Posted September 17, 2023 The water temperature around here is still fairly warm so mornings are still working for me. When it gets to be jacket weather then I will fish later in the day.
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted September 17, 2023 Super User Share Posted September 17, 2023 I have no idea when is the best time to fish anymore. Caught em too many times super early in the morning during winter and right in the middle of the day during dog days of summer for me to start making judgements at all. I just go whenever fits best around my life schedule and I don’t worry about it. If it’s up to me, I usually prefer to fish early in the morning into early afternoon
greentrout
I believe early in the morning at sunrise and a few hours after that for feeding. Live in a sub-tropical part of the USA. I don't claim to have any evidence other than my anecdotal experience. Good Fishing
