Fishing Flea Market?

Featured Replies

Is the flea market now defunct or something? I tried to post there, but it is greyed out in the forum selection menu.

Based on the OP's site visit history, it appears the requirement is having the intended effect.

If members can’t see the FleaMarket items for sale it’s a waste of time to list items for sale!

Understand the need to be a member for the original listing.

Guys,

For quite some time, our Flea Market was a thriving swap meet where anglers could buy, sell, and trade gear with confidence. Unfortunately, that success also attracted the wrong kind of attention—scammers, spammers, and others looking to take advantage of our members.

As the number of complaints grew, it became clear that action was needed. We discovered that these bad actors often joined the site solely to exploit the Flea Market, without contributing to the community in any meaningful way.

To address this, we introduced safeguards designed to discourage that behavior while encouraging genuine participation. These measures require members to become active, regular contributors before gaining access to the Flea Market. (e.g. joining "a long time ago" simply does not meet the criteria.)

The results speak for themselves—our Flea Market is once again a trusted, enjoyable space for anglers to connect and trade. These protections will remain in place as long as scammers and con artists exist, ensuring our community stays safe and vibrant.

Thank you!

Glenn

I remember making my first purchase on the Fishing Flea Market ages was the Daiwa Zillion 100SHA. It’s still my favorite reel of all time for moving baits — it just launches my rattletraps to the moon and back.

Guys, there are many, MANY posts and warnings in the Flea Market letting you know that your access will be revoked if you overuse it.  Don't PM me when that happens, asking why you can't access it anymore.  You already know.

Meh. Been to the flea market many times. I’ve never seen any fleas for sale. Rods and reels? Sure. But need a flea and you’re outta luck.

Guys, don't PM or email me trying to make the case that because you joined a while back without posting means you should have access.

The Flea Market is for active, regular contributors before gaining access to the Flea Market. (e.g. joining "a long time ago" simply does not meet the criteria.)

I don't buy this. I cannot see it anymore and I've been here for many years contributing and, to my knowledge, have had zero issues with buying or selling, but whatever. It went away months ago and I still cannot see it.

You don't have access because of overuse. There are multiple warnings posted in the Flea Market that your access will be revoked if you abuse the privilege.

From the Flea Market Terms of Service

This is designed to be a "garage sale" and nothing more.  It is for occasional use only by members.  If you post items for sale more often than that, you could be denied access to the Flea Market permanently. Once access is removed, it will not be re-instated.

That policy has been in place for years, and will not change.

I've warned members over and over about this. It's posted in multiple stickies in the Flea Market, plus it's in the Flea Market TOS.
