It could still get to you early.  I ordered a JDM Zillion and it was originally supposed to arrive on the 22nd or 23rd.  I got an email from FEDEX after it got to the west coast the other day saying it would be here on the 14th.

Amazon.jp uses their shipping-container and US Customs broker across the big pond.  

From US Customs, FedEx Ground takes over.  

Makes me happy, local FedEx delivery is very reliable.  

Also keep in mind, there was a big back-up leaving Japan during Golden Week national holidays up to May 6.

No, but you will get a notice on the ECMS/Amazon tracking when it's out for delivery

Ordered on 5/10 and received on 5/18…….  Let’s call it 1 week ordered from Amazon.  The domestic stage of delivery had no tracking associated with it, only out for delivery and delivered notifications.

 

Seems like a solid little reel and it will pair up nicely with an old Team Daiwa (Gen1) Larry Nixon 6’0” Wormin/Jiggin rod.

I have an old Team Daiwa LT 6’6” rod that I’d like to pop on another Daiwa reel.  Do they make a Tatula (or whatever model) that is slightly larger than the 100 TW?  Larger meaning something that’s the size of the Shimano 200 series?

If you’re happy with the Tatula 100 you should look into a Tatula 150 which is a bit larger. Or they offer a Tatula 200.

Wonder if Daiwa will offer a Tatula 150 TW in the future?

Well, left and right hand should be self explanatory.

The 100 (no letter) is the 6.3:1 ratio - 26 inches per turn of the handle retrieve rate - I use that speed for crankbaits

The 100XH is the 8.1:1 ratio - 34 inches per turn of the handle retrieve rate - I use that speed for pitching or other techniques where I want a high-speed retrieve

The 100H is the 7.1:1 ratio - 30 inches per turn of the handle retrieve rate - I use that speed for pretty much everything else.

🤔I’m a bit confused as to what you’re referring to as the TW stands for T-Wing as far as I know. You said you were interested in a larger framed reel and the 150 offers that and a bit more line capacity. As far as the frame sizes and line capacity you can find that information here as it’s been explained before or google Tackle Warehouse or Daiwa and you’ll find the line capacity for the Tatula series available.

Does Daiwa offer a 2024 Tatula 150 with the Hyperdrive?  I was told this is a new edition to the 2024 100 series.  Does it make much of a difference?

@Flyfish-mt No Daiwa is not offering their Hyperdrive on the Tatula 150 yet. But the Tatula 150 as far as I know and someone will correct me if I’m wrong is the same frame size as a Tatula CT which I have and love and the 200 is the same size as the original second generation Tatula which I have in a Type R  and also love. I’ll try to upload a few photos tomorrow to show what I mean unless someone else beats me to it😉

The 150's frame size is between the CT and 100.

The Tatula CT is just a Fuego CT with the T-Wing system added.

The 150 is larger than the CT. The 200 and 150 share the same frame with the 200's modified for a taller spool.

No, however, they are quite smooth. My brother has four and I'm on my second.

Any idea if Daiwa will be adding the Hyperdrive feature on future 150 size Tatula reels?  I’m in no hurry to buy and just might wait and see if this happens.

Unlikely and if they do make a hyperdrive gear set for this platform it won't be put into Tatula 150s and will only be used in a sea jigging variant or something like that.  

Ok, thanks……  I wonder if it’s really that big of an upgrade over the standard drive.  From what I read, it’s a dual bearing supported pinion gear?  As apposed to a single bearing in the non-Hyperdrive?

It's not in the traditional sense. No Tatula from the Elite down uses discreet pinion bearings like higher end Daiwas like the Zillions do. Why they advertise this I don't know. This doesn't mean that one side of the pinion is left unsupported under load, because it is. It's supported by the spool's shaft which is then supported by a bearing. Not equivalent to Daiwas free floating spool arrangement, but Tatulas with a metal handle-side sideplate tend be very smooth and seem to stay that way whether they have hyperdrive or not. Just don't remove the spool and spin the handle fast.

 

If for some reason the 150 fits a niche for you, don't let the lack of Hyperdrive keep you from getting one.  It's a nice reel.

Cracked open the Tatula and I was surprised on how dry it was from the factory.  I added some Shimano ACE drag grease to the drag washers and main/pinion gears.  Also a drop of thin oil on the bearings.  
 

No doubt the drag is smoother and now has virtually no startup inertia.  A little goes a long way.

I like the Tatula SV TW most out of the Daiwa reels I've tried (many). This might be an unpopular opinion, but they're just as user friendly as the Steez and Zillions.

 

You should be able to find a used Tatula SV in that price range. 

I'm just getting my feet wet w/ the Daiwa line of baitcasting reels as I been using Shimano reels for many years.  So, I have been told the TW stand for T-Wing but I have no idea what SV means.  I'm guessing something w/ the spool?

SV = stress free versatile in Daiwa marketing speak. Basically SV spools are slightly shallower and have a much lighter brake inductor spring and I believe some difference in the inductor ramp so the brake activates with less inertia and stays active longer through the cast.

They're not compelling distance casters but they are very user friendly. Great for short to mid range precision casting, skipping, etc.

Ok, so shallower spool and shorter casting distance than the Tatula 100……
