Motorcycle license plate says "Montana".   The YouTube video comments say it's "Alpine Lake".  According to Google, there are 4 "Alpine lakes" in Montana.  That's assuming he didn't trailer his motorcycle to a different state.

You could email Todd Moen at Catch Magazine and ask.  Apparently that video is at least 10 years old, so maybe he wouldn't mind giving up his secret spot now.

You have a detective's eye and mindset. Even if I knew where it was, Montana is soooooooo far away. Too far.

My sister's boyfriend who is 69 and has fly fished all over the United States will only lay down his fly rod when fishing for largemouth bass.

He claims it's virtually impossible to catch them in clear water on his gear. Idk

We fished for for 3 hours last Monday and he was determined to catch a LM with a fly rod, nadda.

Handed him a spinning rod with a Shakyhead and he caught 3 in 15 minutes.

I've never fly fished.PXL_20240507_1323204012.jpg.e43487781d38e4ebbf90d92b6203eec1.jpg

@Bird: Largemouth are such brutes. I think landing a big one on a fly rod would be like trying to lasso a bull with some kite string.

If you really want to have fun with a fly rod, use one to go after stripers. 40" striper on a 9 weight rod is a blast.

PB on a flyrod is a 3.86# smallie on a 9ft 6wt.

Most of the time I use a fly rod when fishing for largemouth and smallmouth.  I'm a "dry fly snob" so I use poppers, sliders and the occasional crease fly.  Over the years I've caught several 20 inch smallies up in NE Ontario with them.  Largemouth my PB is 21 inches.  I use a 6 wgt most of the time, but the 8 wgt is handy in weeds and lily pads.  The local lakes I fish are tannic, but the lake in Canada is clear.  You can see bottom in 8 to 10 feet of water.
