Since no one else started it, I will.

 

I watched some live this morning and apparently some anglers are fishing in water that is 50+ feet deep.  I can't imagine hauling a smallmouth in from that deep, placing it in your livewell, taking it to the weigh in, and then trying to release it is helpful.  Wouldn't barotrauma be an issue?

granted st Lawrence River has had more BASS tourneys than about anywhere in America for the last 25+ yrs straight and the smallmouth bass just keep getting bigger, I’d have to say whatever they are doing is working

Did you notice it was radio silence when cliff prince won on wheeler fishing the old ways? And same with Laughron jig and frog fishing for the win on Champlain? Not a coincidence, only speaks negatively then complains when called whiney. All part of the bit

Well that's a positive.  At least they are educated and aware of the issue then.

 

The only time I ever really hear of people targeting fish that deep here is in the winter when crappie fishing through the ice.  But in those cases they all end up in the fry pan.

Actually I didn’t catch that, but you’re right, I didn’t hear a single thing positive from him. Only negatives from ole Randy B. He’s got to learn to age gracefully rather than fight his situation by lashing out at everything.

 

It's just the way of life. We were young once. (Speaking for myself here) There are young guys in the sport and new technology and that’s the way of the world..

 

This tournament is gonna be a doozy I do believe. 

The amount of 5 pounders is ridiculous. Saw mark daniels from the other tour had a video on YT from st Lawrence and he said there were a ton of fish under 2 lbs as well , the future is bright up there

Maybe the weights will go up, but I was afraid that all the pressure would make the weights go down from the last couple of years.   

 

SLR is like a typical lake in Alabama when it's open water, there is a derby fishing it every week, usually multiple derbies.   

 

At some point BASS has to showcase all the other awesome fisheries up north.  I'd be good with not seeing Champlain, St. Clair, or the SLR for a few years.   

Boy I bet @A-Jay would give those dudes a run for their money.. I’ve seen pics of some hogs he’s caught. Not to mention he’s got the boat to do it in especially if the water gets rough..

 

How bout it A-Jay? Can you make those youngsters respect their elders? 😂 my bet is yes!!

I'd like to Marshall a contender on the last day though.  First dude who boat flips a 6 lber, is going swimming.
