Yeah I let Basstrak make a fool out of me.    Never seen this level of sandbagging.

Seems a 20lb bag is like a default party gift for simply launching your boat, place is ridiculous.

Thanks.

In the gym maybe, but not on the water fishing that format.  I get to fish when and where I want.  Changes things.

I'd like to Marshall a contender on the last day though.  First dude who boat flips a 6 lber, is going swimming.

What's wrong with boat flips? I boat flip most of mine...

Good for you and to each his own.

It's not the act itself that rubs me the wrong way, but the ricochet off the wind screen, followed by the bounce off the front carpet, ending with the slime removing brake dance the bass does after it's kicked into the cockpit area so that it doesn't go over the side if and when it comes unbuttoned, that just seems wildly unprofessional.

So fish care then.

Doesn’t mlf give a penalty for bass hitting the deck?Maybe I’m wrong. Been quite a while since I watched mlf. Prefer the Bassmaster format for the most part.

Yes, and for releasing a fish above the gunnel.

6.15 SM......said it was his PB

Kyle Patrick caught a 8.1 SM during practice as well.

I'd imagine we'll see a 7lb fish before the derby ends.

At some point BASS has to showcase all the other awesome fisheries up north.  I'd be good with not seeing Champlain, St. Clair, or the SLR for a few years.

I would like to see them go to the Northwest. Columbia River, Snake River, Dworshak resevoir,     Coeur dalene lake.  Lots of options.

He already did several days ago claiming over half fish caught will die

I'll do him one better and claim that every fish ever will die.  😂😂😂

Pro Bass fishing really needs to find a way to incorporate the West, I hear it discussed on the inside baseball podcasts I listen to quite frequently.

Dworshak Reservoir would be incredible for a number of reasons.   Imagine if they did a special derby or 'heavy hitters' type event on both Dworkshak and then on Ivie

They use to go out there a little bit, Steve Kennedy caught a monster bag out on Clear lake I think, as to why they stopped going to the western waters I do not know. It would be cool for them to add a couple more tournaments including the west.

The west needs to pony up the cash to get them to come, I think they quit caring in the era shortly after Kennedy won that tourney. The reason they always go to the same places is because those same places like it when they come and pay to have them come back

That’s just bad fish care in general. I almost never use a net. I also grab the line or bass and have it under control before I bring it in the boat. They generally don’t touch anything but me unless I drop them which does happen on occasion. I see people net fish and set them on the deck just to have them flop all over the boat. Unfortunately I think a lot of anglers have lost respect for the fish regardless of what species it is. I really don’t know how you change that either as it’s a bigger morality problem then fishing itself.

Very true.

Fuel stop. A lot of guys heading to the big water today..

Cash is certainly part of it.  But geography is just as important, I bet.  How many pros on the top two tours live west of Texas?  Out of 180 or so, maybe 15 or 20?  Tough trip for one stop for most.  Package a couple in a row?  Even the western lakes/rivers are really spread out.  I guess Potland and Coeur d'Alene could be done back to back.  IDK....all those AL and TN guys might have enough pull to nix that

Ya the scheduling is sketchy to say the least.  Seems like a lot of the same fisheries year after year, or every other year.  More in the south too, and less up north.  All the northern swings are later in the summer too, which is dumb.

Back to back events have screwed up pre-fishing days too this season.  When there is a post poned day becasue of weather, it removes a vital pre-fishing day for the top 10 in the next event.  They go weeks or a month without an event alltogether and then have two of them right in a row.  #moronic

Gee has caught 3 five pound smallmouth thus far..

  • Super User

Make it 4 five pounders

And a 3.5 pounder for fish #5

Cory Johnston was fishing maybe 100 yards away while Gee caught all of his fish. Cory is fishless and has just left that area lol
