A cottage is on the water and a cabin is in the woods. That said, your wife is right. Go with that and you'll never fail.

I got a cabin in the woods on the water ??

@Randy Price, I drove thru that area last month and saw an absolute monster velvet buck, like one from the cover of field and stream . Maybe you’ll get him one day!

Is that what she calls it? Then she's right.

Wisconsin river offers some fantastic fishing. I'm under the impression Castle Rock has a good musky population. We have a place in the upper dells across the street from the boat ramp. Don't catch many giants but plenty of good walleye, smallies, crappie, catfish, and the occasional sturgeon.

As far as the original question, I say, if it has indoor plumbing I'll call it a cottage. If not, I'll call it a cabin

My favorite place in the world is the Chippewa Flowage up near Hayward, WI. Anywhose...cabin for me but if the wife allowed it it's what she says.

Sorry, Pass the _ _ _ _ _ _ _ cheese please.  Cottage! She is always right, Randy. If she is like mine, she knows when you're underfished.

You plop that abode anywhere in a neighborhood and other than the size it would fit right in.  I would say it is a cottage more so than a cabin.  I don't think anyone if you showed that house to someone would say aww that's a nice cabin.  Location does matter too though.
