Best Bass on a Homemade Lure

Featured Replies

What's your best bass on a homemade lure?? Caught this fish on a homemade underspin with a powerbait 4" black grub. I deconstructed a beetle spin to make the lure

12 lbs 4 oz, with a jointed wooden lure (made from 1-3/8" closet dowel and eye screws for the hook hangers, joints, and line tie. . . purchased from Home Depot), with a soft plastic tail. No photos. It wasn't my PB. I reeled it in, weighed her, and sent her back to where she came from.

LM 6# even, on one of my hand injected beaver style baits on a flippin rig.

SM 6-4 on a homemade bladed jig.

10.51# on a 1/2oz double willow spinnerbait I poured

I don't know the weight, didn't have a scale that day.  I caught it on a spinnerbait I made.  I only tied the skirt, and put the blades on, the body was bought from Lure Parts Online.  Skirt was made from Lumaflex, and flashabu.

I caught a 7# 3oz on a home made red worm in the first tournament that I ever fished.

Made my Viper head jig mold in 1971 and caught 100’s of DD bass including my 5 PB’s on that jig.

Probably the 4.65 I caught as a kicker fish in a 3 fish limit (summertime wisconsin culling rules) on a jig I made.  I also made the rod too.  I won the tournament too which was cool as that was my first win ever.

I have caught a bunch of good fish on baits I made though, just no giants.  Yet.

Here's a marker for coloring lures, I haven't tried it yet but want to get the black marker for drawing stripes on minnow baits
