You could fish all year round here if ya wanted to. I take myself out of the game around feb. -mar., during spawning season. I service my reels and boat, re-order tackle, that kinda thing. This year I’m a little behind, been waiting on a part for my boat for 6 weeks….UGH!

I love fishing cold water that isn't frozen.  Most of my best days for quality have been with water temps lower than 55.  Historically, mid-November and the first 2 weeks of April are the 4 weeks I want to be on the water as much as possible.  Any open water in October, December, and March can really deliver too, January and February are rarely open but I'll still catch if the lid does comes off.

Year round

The winter keeps me indoors.  My season ends around the end of November, and starts back up again around the middle of March.

This winter was exceptional cold, lakes frozen over.

November I spend the whole month at our hunting cabin so that leaves December, January and February which I don't even attempt to fish anymore.

Still feel fortunate that I can fish 8 months out of the year.

March (Walleye) through October (deer season). Bass doesn't get good until mid April around here, so I focus on bass from mid-April through around mid-September.

I don't ice fish and missed an opportunity to get out there today, hopefully tomorrow.

Jersey doesn't really have an ice out.  We might get periods where lakes will freeze and most of the time its not strong enough to ice fish so. Generally, it only lasts a week or so, the jet stream rebounds and southern systems thaw it with rain.  This year was exceptionally cold, with brief periods of open water between 3 hard freezes.  The last winter that was even close to as cold was 2018.
