New tires for Ranger Cayman 223

Featured Replies

Hey guys. I am needing to replace the tires on my Ranger Cayman and was curious if yall had bought tires from Walmart or Amazon as they are the best price? I was going to do the install with my BIL who has been a mechanic for 25+ years and he said we can handle it at the shop he works at.

Anything else we should do while swapping them out? Should I buy a brand new spare or just use the best of the old batch? Any other advice?

Boat trailer tires rarely wear out they time out after 8 years.

Goodyear Endurance or General Tire who sponsors MLF are the top 2 trailer tires.

Yes on replacing the spare. It’s not mileage it’s time. I’m a big yes on Goodyear endurance.

I would not go into the 8th year on any tire.  Change before or after 7 max.  Dealer is more important than brand.

My tire shop rotates when I want and even fixes flats free if I have one.  I have no clue what brand the tires are.

I had a trailer shop recommend a tire that they use on very high dollar horse trailers that are heavy weight weight and run a lot of miles.  Power King Towmax.  I have timed out on 2 sets without a failure and I pull a lot of miles.

100% agree with @WRB, tires will likely age out before they wear out.

Last fall I checked dates on the four tires on my 5th wheel. They were NINE years old, so decided to get them replaced. Tire tech showed me a bulge on one tire that I did not notice...said I dodged a bullet with that one(!)

Whew!

I got the best tires they had...I believe they are 8 ply Carlisle trailer tires.

I pulled a 5th wheeler from MO to the gulf and back several times as well as to Canada.  It’s not worth it to go beyond 6 years.  What’s a few bucks compared to the potential for massive equipment injury or personal injuries?

Roger that! I won't be going beyond 6 years in the future. We picked up this 5th wheel a in 2020...never really thought about the tires, as they looked good. Glad my buddy suggested I get them replaced. Nine years is WAY too long!

I've got almost 6 years on BFG AT/KO's on my 2019 Duramax 2500HD. Got them with the truck new...they have 56k on them, still have tread. They will be replaced this summer.

A lot of juicy information here:

And for the record, I just got a new set of Goodyear Endurance on my Ranger 2 weeks ago.

I was in the garage cleaning the boat trailer wheels and shining the tires.  I checked the brand they are the Goodyear Endurance so I think we both have good tires.
