Skirt threading tool.....endless possibilities

Featured Replies

After discovering the Geecrack Cue Bombs and Imo Kemushi baits that are just "fuzzy dice" baits, I realized the drawing power and appeal of fuzzy baits to larger fish especially.   Something about the extra water displacement seems to generate a better than average fish.

Anyways I've seen these skirt threading tools for awhile now, but today I decided to buy this Cultiva JDM one that my local store had.    Played around with some Senkos and really like the result.  The possibilities seem endless, and I plan to especially use them on some D Bombs.

I'm sure others have one of these tools, what plastics have you customized?

Yeah that's a great video, covers my thoughts for sure.

I'm just surprised this hasn't caught on more, fuzzy stuff certainly works.

I bet those look irresistible wacky rigged. Nice work!

Great work!

I use the Decoy threader.

I usually do this to poop baits, as they are one of my primary presentations. Sometimes I pack a bunch into the nose and it darn near looks like a finesse jig when I'm done with it!

@RRocket Nice, and go figure you're into since you're a sneaky JDM guy 😎

I like that tool better than mine because of that lower support it has, and it's half the cost but it's OOS at TW.

I have a very old original mojo lures kit and use the weight peg threader for this purpose, you can also find threader needles at any hobby store real cheap instead of expensive jdm "tools". This little mod slows the fall and lets you "float" the ned, and it kinda looks like a dragonfly.

I really do love JDM!

Bug (Mushi) baits off all types continue to be exceedingly popular in Japan. Even winning tournaments. But they are largely ignored here.

Lure Magazine's Bait of the Year was a bug type bait...and I'll be throwing it this year. :)

We have come a long,  long way.

Lol.  In 1982, I got one of those in my sewing kit at boot camp.

If you have any stainless steel wire you can make one of those tools.  Just fold it and squeeze it together with pliers.  It will go past center and form the perfect end.  Shape the middle and put on any kind of handle.

Years ago, I think in the 80’s  a company made a Binky Bug   It was a flat tail grub the that several strands of rubber inserted in the body. They worked then and I’m sure they going to be popular again
