Help selecting new spinning reel for around 100-125

The c2500 is the body size of a 2000 with a 2500 spool IIRC. At that point, it would be about the balance. I like the lightest rig that doesn’t feel unbalanced. Half an ounce is noticeable but not generally a deal breaker. An ounce might have me questioning whether or not I should consider a different reel. Maybe. If I had to roll the dice and wanted the 2500 spool size, I would be inclined to go with the c2500.

I can interchange spools 🧵 n several of my Daiwa reels between 2000 and 2500. The arbor diameters are the same, but the skirts on the 2500 spools are just a tiny bit larger. But they will still function on the 2000 size reels, that’s how close they are in terms of size.

Ok I’ll go for the smaller size. Do you think the hugane body of the stradic matters that much more for durability over the ci4+ in the Ultegra?

Some people are ok with a little flex here and there. Others, not so much. I can’t say whether or not you’d even notice it. Personally, I wouldn’t worry about the difference between hagane and ci4 with line that light, but that’s just me.

Each jump in price brings incremental improvements. We just have to decide when we as individuals, can’t afford any more incremental improvements.

The nicest spinning reel I've owned, or used, is a Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier 2. I like it better than all my buddies reels including a Pfluger President. I've not messed with really high end stuff, but I am completely satisfied with the PQ2.

My first “real nice” reel when I got back into fishing was a BPS Pro Qualifier, I still have it and sent it in to BPS for service which I wrote about how pleased I was with them. Here’s mine and I still have the XPS rod that’s in the catalog photo also.IMG_4698.jpeg.6ffe87e93a166e582ee10713b3d983d2.jpegIMG_4697.jpeg.62c0821ef201b9541b474bbfe61c20d1.jpegIMG_3040.jpeg.400c8625cf25cc47bb9778d12a38c086.jpegIMG_0326.jpeg.2cae3cabbb12f18f841529053c3c5db9.jpeg

I used to drool over that catalog when I was a kid. The catalog now isn't nearly as complete, at least in the lure section.

That’s super cool. I actually have a rod from a similar time frame that was handed down to me.

The Shimano Nasci FC is very good. I have the 1000 size and its smooth and casts very well with 6 pound Sufix Siege mono

The Kastking Royal Legend Pro 1000-4000 or the Kastking Skeet Resse Icon. Pro is on sale starting @ $89.99 and the Icon is $99.99. I have both and are decent reels. Use my code GEKBA10 for an additional discount.

oooohh awesome can you post a pic of it on your rod? i want to upgrade to one of those! show us the full frontal!

I just purchased a Okuma ITX-CB and it is amazing. It's in that 100-140 price range. Without a doubt one of the smoothest spinning reels I have put my hands on. It is built for finesse applications. I currently have it on a ML rod and throwing small soft plastics with it.

I have a Fuego and a few Tatulas.  I can't tell the difference.  So it might make sense to buy a Fuego and if it gets rough in a few years, replace it with another.  But I've never had any problem with any Daiwa spinning reel, and I have many different ones.
