tournament at Baccarac

They are having a tournament at Lake Baccarac this week.  It is a two member team tournament with a best bag of three.  So far the best one day bag of three bass is over 36 pounds.  One angler had to cull a DD bass because the other angler on his team had 3 bigger DD for the day. I think you can get to the site on this link.

Lures only? C&R? Weights are similar to the 90’s in SoCal.

Let’s hope tournaments don’t ruin the trophy fishery.

Thank you for sharing👍

I don't know what organization is responsible for organizing the tournament , but it is called 2025 King of Baccarac.  Pro Bass Adventures has it on their Instagram page.  A friend of mine called me and sent me a link, I am trying to find out more about it myself.

Thanks - I figured it was them.

My friend that told me about it said, the anglers are mostly guides from the lodges there.  He also said that a few boats have Forward facing sonar, with experienced FFS anglers, and they are absolutely crushing them.  That is from a friend of a friend's cousin, so there is a good chance it's a wild fish story, but I do believe the tournament weights are accurate.  The Instagram post has a picture of the score board along with some commentary.

The lodges all shut down this time of year, and the water is as low as it gets.  Having the guides get together for some friendly competition, at the end of the season is probably a fun idea.  I don't think there is a lot of money involved.   A 12 pound 3 oz bass won an angler $2600 for big fish of the day.  I don't know what the other pay outs are and am not certain if that is dollars or pesos.  It would be interesting to get more information, but the Instagram page is all I'm able to find, and it lacks many details.

39 total DD caught in the first four days.  I have no idea how many days the tournament is going for.  I'm surprised it would be more than 4 days, but as I mentioned before, I have very little information.

When I first heard the numbers reported at this tournament I was to say the least skeptical, but after watching this video, I do believe it was possible.   FFS has come to Mexico and it is here to stay.

You may come to regret that. Just saying.

Good Fishing

Unfortunately FFS has come to Mexico, but it hasn't come to me.  I don't have the money to buy it, or the time to learn how to use it.  I'm on the fence weather it is ethical, or sporting, but I sure would like to try it and then decide.  My version of the old fisherman's prayer is.  Lord please let my fish with FFS on my home lake in Mexico.  I promise to stop after I catch a 15 pound bass.

I may never get a chance to use it, but I'm positive, any lodges or guides that don't jump on the FFS train will be left at the station.  Many of the lakes here have a large population of off shore bait, and giant Pelagic bass.  In a few years the first guides to take advantage of the technology will be telling unbelievable, but true stories about when FFS first came to Mexico.  It will be interesting to see who will be the Josh Jones of Mexico.

It was only a matter of time.

So glad I got to fish it and share in the big bass insanity before

the circus comes to town.

It's been a special place for a long time. We visited at least once annually  between 2013 - 2021, and was ready to book the next trip after the first day of each one. Managed a DD fish all but one trip. Still got a 9 something.

The big Bass fishing in 2018 was beyond comprehension.

Not sure what the future holds but seem I may have made my last trip there.

And I'm OK with that.

Holy crap, I’m the biggest moron! This topic has been going on for almost a month now and this whole time I’ve been reading Menderchuck! It wasn’t until @A-Jay’s most recent post did I finally realize it’s Bacarac. I’m just going to stand in the corner and work on getting my head out of my wazoo.

Sadly, nearly every water will succumb to the advancements of technology.  If a remote Mexican lake isn't safe, none are.

I'm too stubborn to climb aboard the FFS train.

Also have very mixed feelings about it's usage. 🤫
