Black walking baits?

How does an all black walking bait do?

I’ve done ok with a black walking bait. I typically don’t fret over color of a topwater bait too much, but I’ve had success with a black walking bait.

I've used a Heddon Zara Spook in the old black shore minnow  color for years with good success.

I've done ok with one early in the morning and in stained water with the Shower Blows in black bone. Not exactly a walking bait but the color works. I prefer a chrome or plain bone color for most of fishing.

I use a black Duo Realis pencil top water bait it walks well and catches bass.  A white one does too.

One of my favorites is a black Super Spook Jr. I've had good success in both stained and clear water with one.

Black top water lures has worked good for night or before dawn fishing. It’s work best for me if the is moonlight not full moon just some light to give contrast, even the edges of dock lights too

^^^What they said^^^  Just as the sun is coming up I'm finding a pinch point and fishing a black Super Spook or black Whopper Plopper (depending on wind).  They are my go-to lures at dawn.

I only throw 2 colors for any topwater bait. Black... and white.

Black sees probably 80% of my use.

Black Jitter Bug has caught lots of bass across the country, black Spooks not as popular but it works good!

Hey it's either black or white.

I used an all white popper last night with decent results.

Not sure what the ideal color would have been as the water was so green it looked like 1,000 Gremlins jumped in and spawned offspring. Just nasty stuff.  99% sure it was toxic algae.

I always throw a black Jitterbug. It never occurred to me.

I fish all black for several of my topwaters, IMO it silhouettes very well and is easy for the bass to target. Typically I only throw black or white topwaters, with a few exceptions.

Here's my logic. Take any object and hold it above your head. Now look up at it with the sun above you. Guess what, it looks black. Bass can't wear sunglasses when they look up above them. It's the same premise.
