Do they make a twist lock hook that fits the super fluke?

Featured Replies

I’ve tried Gammy & Owner and the hook point comes up at a 45 degree angle and is exposed so it isn’t weedless, rather than flush and parallel to the back of the plastic.

I like the action but they rip off of the traditional EWG hooks way too quickly, it’s really irritating.

Not even close. You can give them a little bit of a bend to close the gap if you think you need a heavier wire hook. I've done this a lot.

That aside, try the owner the Owner Twistlock Light. They work weedlessly in typical soft stick baits and all I use in flukes regardless of brand. No bending necessary.

Thanks! What would you recommend for the regular 5” super fluke, 3/0 or 4/0?

These are great hooks!

You could also use a Hayabusa Trailer Lock with any hook...and they aren't coming off.

Mind blown! Have you tried these?

Of course! I only recommend stuff I use.

I use some fragile JDM baits, so finding ways to keep them attached (and in one piece! ) is the goal.

These work so well that the whole rest of the bait will pull off and be destroyed before the part with the keeper pulls off.

Have you tried the little silicone bait stopped beads? I think Harmony makes some.

I prefer the 5/0. No, I don't think it messes up the action and the hookup ratio is better with its longer shank, IMO.

No, but I use the Rapid Hook All and its a fantastic keeper system.

For standard size flukes I really like the 4/0 Gamakatsu Weighted Superline Spring Lock Hook with a 1/16oz weight. Just enough weight for me to keep it down a bit without impacting the action too much. Can also swap over to a 4.8" Swim Impact Fat if I want to cover more water.

I also like the new 6" flukes and go up to the 5/0 size for those. For magnum flukes I go up to the 6/0. I also really like the Owner Weighted Twistlock for smaller flukes.

See I tried the twist lock and the Gamakatsu but it seems like the hook point was not flush with the back of the fluke.

Can you post up a picture of how you’re rigging them? This is a weighted twistlock but it’s how they should look. IMG_5059.jpeg.0a1153f0581575ab742ee5cb61163579.jpeg

I think I figured out my problem, I was using the reg twistlock not the light!

You might have been using the twistlock flipping hook. I like the owner twistlock open gap https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Owner_TwistLock_Open_Gap_Centering_Pin_Hook/descpage-OTLC.html or the light as suggested by @PhishLI for slimmer baits.

You are using too small of a hook! Twist locks uses CPS that moves the hook eye in front of the Fluke that shortens the effective hook point location. Larger size hooks are longer.

You can also buy Owners CPS spring and add to 28 ton30 degree jig hook make own from hook of choice.

I tried the Twistlock Light in 4/0 and it seems to fit ok, is that what you’d have used?

They make them in 4/0 and 5/0.
