Speed Clips

Featured Replies

Ok... So quick question... Probably a silly one because logic says the answer is yes.

To those of you that said you use them on your cranking rods.... I assume you the remove all the split rings on your baits?

I wouldn't think you would want a snap AND a split ring? I've thought about using clips, but always hold off when I think about pulling off ALL those split rings off all the baits. And what if I am in a situation I don't have a clip and now my baits don't have split rings.

Suppose I could keep a few rings in a compartment and add back if/when ever needed.

Just curious.....

Stay loc snaps are the only ones I trust.

Why does it seem like so many people are against them?  Not everyone has the dexterity to tie knots for every lure change.🤷🏼‍♂️

I think that anglers who have good eyesight and good dexterity in their hands can't understand the knot tying challenges that anglers who don't have these things face.  Can you tie on a lure blindfolded?

I use snaps on all hard baits and have never had one fail (yet).

This is going to sound crazy to many of you but I'm gonna try a snap or a split ring on my jigs.

Mono and fluorocarbon are completely invisible to me in the last few years so I use hi vis braid (and sometimes struggle seeing that).  Yes, I've tried the hi vis floro but can't see it anymore either.

I'll be damned if I'm gonna quit fishing!!!!!

Yes,

One ring is sufficient.
When using a separately tied independent spit ring of any kind I remove the “stock” one first

@Lottabass

Said it best.
There are others that are easier to use but not necessarily better.
It’s a preference thing with function not the only consideration.

I use speed clips with casting gear only.

My fishing partner who is 68 and only uses spinning tackle won't use clips because everything with trebles foul on the cast.

As well as spinnerbaits and buzzbaits.

The back of my boat looks like a hair salon from all the retying 🫢

You may look into cataract surgery, mine made all the difference;  ask Swamp Girl how hers turned out.

Thank you, I've had that surgery.  See the eye doctor every year.  New glasses every year.  I'm disabetic and 76 years old.  I don't know what else to do.

I'm gonna find a new doctor.

Not crazy to me. I use clips on everything from big swimbaits to Ned rigs.

Have you inquired about Lasik surgery;  I didn't qualify but know others with amazing results.  Keep trying, friend.

No, I’m lazy and leave the split rings on.  I sometimes tie directly vs using a speed clip so easy option is to leave the split rings on the bait.  I’ve never had an issue.

Makes sense. I could see the extra weight at the nose maybe causing an issue with how it suspends on a jerkbait, but I wouldn't expect any impact on other lures.
