I'm not sure if anyone is aware or not, but there was an open event on this lake in 2024. The winning weight for that 3 day event was only 35 pounds, so expect a dink fest.

What a wild event. I had 1238 points on Day 1 at 2pm... And I finished the event with 906. Congrats to Jacob Foutz for his first Elite victory! This was a fun one to watch. It was a shame what happen

Between the FLW event in 2020, Bass elite in 2018, and the open in 2024, only 3 anglers averaged more than 13 pounds per day for the whole tournament, and only 1 averaged over 13.5 pounds per day. Dink fest for sure. Hopefully the warm up they are having there will push some better largemouth up.

Also, BFL this year in January and last year in February a combined 206 anglers caught a total of 4 bags over 13 pounds and none hit 14.

So what you're saying is that I shouldn't count on Zaldain to be throwing a 12" swimbait this event?

I'm teetering between those two. I dont know if Kyoya will go after largemouths after filling his limit of cookie cutter spots , so I went with Fisher. I'm usually wrong.

Well I went with Kyoya and I'm usually wrong so I guess it will be somebody else in that bucket who finishes highest. lol

Hank Cherry posted and video and said “Sabine River….. I mean lake Martin” haha

I did see someone caught a 50 ish lb striper in practice, said it took them over 20 minutes to reel it in and it bottomed out a 50 lb scale

Thanks for the heads up on the dink fest/Sabine comparison. I just revised my total weight tie breaker downward.

We are underway at Lake Martin.

Over half the field doesn't have marshals today so following Basstrak is a bit pointless. I personally only have one guy with a marshal today.

I'm glued to basstrakk just to see how long it takes one of the guys with a marshal to clear 10 pounds.

Watching some of the coverage and Steve Kennedy is out here in 2026 still fishing with an old green Bantam Curado.

Pretty sure I still have 2 or 3 of them in a box somewhere. One of them was the first baitcaster I ever got back whenever I was probably only 10-12 years old.

Randy Howell already has as much weight than he did at Guntersville. He was the anchor of my fantasy team, he held them down.

Turned it on for about 10 minutes, whoever they were showing on live is immaterial. Looking beyond him was several other tournament fishermen zig zagging at high speed.. I was lmao at this. Turned it off. It’s just not watchable in my opinion. Guntersville was completely awesome though & I’ll be looking for more OG style tournaments. 🎣🎣🎣

Yea I suck today, 18 out of 42 @ 69%

Bunch of guys don't have marshals today, probably nothing to worry about.

Well this is going to be a tight one until the end. One bite could change your entire tournament.

As of day one weigh ins, 3 pounds separates 20th and 97th place.

Sabine River 2.0

Fought a fish for 5 minutes.. ends up a striped bass lol

I don’t mind a tough tournament every now and then, it’s fun to see the best in the world struggle at times. A bit like golf in that sense to me.

But I turned it on and saw Zaldain using FFS on a laydown. Different strokes for different folks, it’s just not for me. And I’m native with tech, born in the 90’s. Hope my team does well but I’ll catch the next one.

Palaniuk burned me twice now already. Hopefully my dumb brain remembers that when the Classic comes around.
