Claro que si! 11 of the 25 biggest LMB ever caught are from the county I live in. haha

I had to do a quick Google search.

I'm assuming Los Angeles County?

I knew CA had some big bass but I didn't know it was THAT good until now. Holy cow!

II had a pinch of fame, enough to to taste it and to learn it doesn't suit me. I want a quiet life on a quiet pond. I'd never choose to end that.

The Florida comments are of interest to me here in this thread. To answer the OP, yes I would report it because for one, supposedly there are millions of dollars waiting on the next world record bass

San Diego county. LA has Castaic and Casitas. SD has Miramar, Dixon, Hodges, Wohlford and Morena. LA and SD combined have 19 of the 25.

yes in a heartbeat. I would never hide a trophy or record. Most fishermen are after a big one.

Without question I would. A couple years ago I caught the biggest mean mouth I’ve ever seen. I texted a picture of it to my buddy who is a guide and he said don’t let it go until you weigh it. too late I’d already released it but a quick Google search told me it was at least a pound short by my estimation.

Yes, any day of the week.

Yup, 100% I would turn it in and not be sorry. It’s a once in a lifetime event. Luckily we have 1000’s of lakes in Michigan.

I’d finally have that vindicated moment with the wife. See this is why I fish all the time .

Simple answer...NO!

Categorically, No. I feel that recognition of a state record is of no value. It only feeds the ego. My priority is to release the fish as fast as possible. I video my entire day on the water and I'll have the video to review and smile about. Before I was videoing, I'd take photos and sometimes for various reasons I had to forgo a photo just to get it back in the water faster. I felt better knowing it swam away "happily" and without further stress. I don't require a plaque, trophy, or honorable mention. I do require releasing that trophy back into the water with as little stress as possible. I want to keep the big girls in the gene pool continuing to contribute.

I enjoy the quietude of being alone on the water. It's a good opportunity for me to refocus, recalibrate, and recharge. Sharing the water with others tends to be counterintuitive to that mindset.

I like the way you fish...and respect the fish...and care for the fish. In my more than half century of fishing, I've only seen one bass I caught too hurt to resume swimming. It splashed for a couple minutes on the surface and then an eagle took it. Even when I fished the same lake for a week or more, 12 hours a day, fishing the same spots, I never found a dead bass on the surface, even though I caught hundreds each week. Sure, I might have killed some, but I never saw any proof. Of course, I've killed fish when I kept them to eat, but like you Crow Horse, I'm quick to return them to the water. I'm also really good at unhooking them.

My thoughts exactly; we follow the same principles. Great to know I'm not the Lone Ranger.

Get'um up, Scout!

I would take pics, weigh it, and release it a.s.a.p.

My question to everyone is: Would you post the pic on BR?

I'd post it on BR, but since I weigh so few fish, I'd merely have a big bass pic to share and not a confirmed state record.

A state record means nothing to me either. I would celebrate the unique animal I caught. Being ignorant of the finer points of social media and the internet I would be afraid of the possible negative attention an Iowa 10 pounder would get. I don't use social media with the exception of BR. If I posted a photo of a state record size bass on BR would the whole world see it?

Word would spread quickly and then wherever you went, you'd have a line of Gollums skulking after you, all claiming that the big girl was their precious, their birthday present:

There's a lot of non-member traffic on this site - right now at 8:13 AM ET there is 342 viewing and 12 are members on a slow Monday morning - so yes, there is a good chance ppl are seeing whatever your post is from wherever they live.

So just think about how bass resource famous you are roflmao1

Ha! Me too!

Al, you catch big bass. You should list your location as Schmiowa so that people don't know where you fish. Going forward, I'm a Schmainer. Take that, you Gollums! You'll never catch our bass now!
