I have a friend who told me that bass tasted gross. We had her family over for a fish fry. When she left she sheepishly admitted that the bass was pretty good. Her husband, and son liked the bass better than the catfish.

My dad and his brothers didnt like bass either. They preferred catfish and crappie. My dad changed his mind quickly when I fried some up.. Turns out he loved bass . Couldnt get enough of it.

I ate hundreds of bass before my pond produced multiple 7s, 8s, a 9.9, and my PB 13.44. Do as you wish, eating bass helps grow bigger bass if you're consistently catching alot of little bass.

I like to eat bass, but I don't like to keep them fresh, clean or cook them. I release my bass because I am lazy, and tell everybody it is because I am a conservationist.

I fried up a bunch from my private lake on my hunting farm and they did not disappoint. Made nuggets. Right seasoning and breading, it was prime. Would have again.

You go get those sixes!

If you learn how to read relative weight on bass you learn you might be doing the population a favor by eating some bass, especially on private waters. Bass are not sacred. Balance is important. Sometimes fish need to be harvested to improve the forage availability for the remaining bass.

You’re absolutely right, couldn’t agree more! That’s why we ate some of the medium sized fish. Have to keep the ecosystem balanced and thin the school at times. Lets the bigger ones get bigger!

swordfish

I LOVE swordfish....more for me I guess. 😁

How anyone can say that deep fried is 'eating fish' is beyond me. You're eating a crispy coating that kinda has some fish in there somewhere.

Deep fry them lightly breaded, just cornmeal dusting. Ive even had some deep fried with no coating while camping (because I forgot the meal). Long John silver thick batter is nasty. Swordfish is great

You can make a good breading with 50/50 corn meal or corn flour and all purpose flour, and add whatever seasoning you prefer. I add salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder

I agree with the light dusting vs heavy batter 100%. After reading both of these posts, maybe I need to give swordfish another shot.

A bass celebrating his birthday in beer batter won't be around for you to catch again.

I like to catch bass and I like to eat crappie.
