@casts_by_fly that was a nail biter for sure. Goaltending was superb. Honestly team USA was outplayed most the game. They never gave up gritted it out and won! Making the USA proud!

That game took a year off my life.

Hellebuyck in goal was the difference in this. Canada could have won that 3 or 4 to 1 if not for him. Brings back memories of Jim Craig 46 years ago.

Herb Brooks would be proud

For sure. This game was the same game the US women and Canada played. Canada in both games carried the play and both games went an extra period

EDIT: Autocorrect is becoming the worst

Gets tooth knocked out, scores the winning goal in OT, what a game!

I'm still dumbfounded as to how they didn't score here

There were a lot of great plays by the goalies in this game.

Faber hitting both posts on that shot was unreal.

This will be one of the most iconic pictures in USA history IMG_1016.jpeg

@gim - I couldn't believe it either. In real time I thought the canadian flubbed it and just missed. Of course being an olympian and one of the best in the sport that didn't happen. Seeing the replay was unreal. That was pur instinct from the goalie. He knew it was going that way but couldn't see anything so just stuck his stick back to where it felt right.

@Susky River Rat that's an incredible picture. You could see how busted up he was on the video but I'm glad someone got it as a photo. Like you said, that's going to be an iconic USA olympics photo forever. The high stick that knocked out those teeth was pretty harsh too. If the defender hadn't been falling to the ice (which at least in aprt caused it) he would have been thrown out.

The USA finished second in the medal count behind Norway. It's the most medals the US has ever won at a Winter Olympics. That's certainly something to be proud of.

Next up is the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, July 2028.
