Should I buy this fish finder? Lowrance x-4

Featured Replies

I have never owned a fish finder. I kind of prefer not having one in some ways. But I have always thought knowing the water depth and water temp at least would be beneficial. A coworker of mine told me to make an offer on his Lowrance x-4. He doesn’t use it anymore. I haven’t found any for sale online, he mentioned he thought he paid $1000 new. It’s older and comes in a bag, it also has a transducer that suction cups to the exterior of a boat. Just seeing if anyone here has used or owns one of these, any info helps. Thanks.IMG_3560.jpeg

That thing is not worth 1000 bucks.

Offer 50 otherwise tell him to go kick rocks

Not in a million years. That’s a 10+ year old basic chirp black and white unit that looks like it’s been sitting in the corner of a dusty garage all that time. I wouldn’t put it on the boat if you paid me to do it let alone buying it.

If you’re looking for a FF for that price range:

Super old. Maybe worth $40 max.

The current version of that finder with a color screen and modern hardware / electronics sells for $140.

Hold off...you can do much better than that unit pictured.

My first fish finder was a Bottom Line Fish-in Buddy. One piece unit, clamped on to the side of the boat. It gave me depth, water temp, and kind of marked fish. Looked like this. Sold it a few years back for $25.

Thanks folks! I’ll definitely just get something modern and relatively cheap.

I guarantee you he paid no more than $100 for it new

Yeah right now on eBay

you can get a new one for $100.00 or used for $75 or less.

Offer $25/30 or spend a few dollars more and buy new
