3 quarters

Of a hundred. We haven’t been able to get out for a month which has been killing me. My neighbor and I went down to Stockton lake this morning. They had rain which we were unaware. Our launch area was muddy. I headed out to open water and got away from the mud. I pulled into an area with a series of coves and started throwing a spinnerbait. In about a quarter of a mile I had caught 2 and my neighbor had none. I couldn’t get bit on a rocky point so I tossed a Ned out and had a nice smallmouth on the first cast. My neighbor did the same and the game was on. I tried shaky for a while and caught 3 but they weren’t on it like the Ned.

We fished in and out of the coves in this area for 6 hours. We had doubles 4 or 5 times. We didn’t bother with pics or measurements. We just caught and released. In the mix we had smallmouth, largemouth, spotted bass and 3 meanmouth. We caught 75 fish in the six hours. They were still biting when I called the dogs and put out the fire. Most of the fish are close to spawning but not there yet. The water is around 62°. We normally cover 1/2 mile per hour so I think we fished close to 3 miles today which is only half of that area. What a day to remember.

The fish really seemed to be biting yesterday. I got out for 1.5 hours after work last night and put 18 in the kayak and lost several others just skipping docks with a finesse jig. It was a really nice evening.
