Featured Replies

I have a shimano curado bantem cu-201 really nice condition I’m buying it knowing it has a crack and I know it has a crack which got me at a discount but is there any online store selling the part BNT1507 or someone has one in good condition

ereplacementparts lists the part as discontinued, and none turn up in ebay or even google search.

Might register on Tackle Tour forum and ask there.

I'd say there is a good chance that the crack will not affect the reel's performance. Give it a try.

I would just super glue it. Just make sure using only a tiny bit so the residue won't affect the spool balance.

Or you can resort to Japan or Chinese used market. There are many merchants there disassembling a whole reel and selling parts.

Like what was already said, I don't think it will affect anything. I would glue the crack and the brake against the frame next to the crack that way it will bond to a surface. Of course, you won't be able to use that brake but it should function fine. When I had several of those reels, I don't think I turned more than two brakes on anyway.

Also, you said you got it for a good deal. Just curious what you paid for it. You might also find a parts reel on eBay.

I would take the brake off and glue the crack. Then put the brake on again. They are easy to remove.

no offense, since it's a likely a press fit with a detente stretch, that might pop the superglue joint - likely how the crack formed to begin with.

I'd glue it in place with the smallest dab of Pink Zap CA+ - it wets everything it can flow to.

Also, triple ziploc the CA - I use it to wet allbright leader knots, and get 2 years from 1/4 oz

Not a bad idea ! I never use all six brakes on, so might be a better idea (safer) to just glue that one.

Which suggests one just pull that brake and leave that position open. Remove the one opposite, too.

originally listed 120 (135 bucks at checkout for shipping and tax), negotiated down to 99 bucks after we chit-chatted, and i asked for a picture of the VBS brake system and I asked if i would still buy it if we met at 99 bucks + free shipping and here we are, the picture of the cracked vbs system is from the seller when i asked. what super glue would you reccomend and im trying to understand the method of glueing it is there a video out there where someone repairs a vbs spool with glue?

Pink zap CA+-? i might try it but i need to do research since i did hear superglue can be a hit or miss on trying to seal the crack

What I was suggesting is that if he uses glue, the brake can be pushed on the glue, creating surface to surface contact with frame and the brake. This will make for a stronger hold and allow him to push the glue into the crack. Sort of like how the cover of a book is glued to pages (if that makes sense).

Why won't it work? It works perfectly fine on the plastic parts on daiwa SV spools, i see no reason why it wouldn't work here.

I use Gorilla glue for most things related to my kayak and Loctite Super Glue for most everything else. Not sure which one would be best for this application. Gorilla Glue has a few waterproof versions that might work better but again, I think this might ok as is. Glueing it would seal the crack giving you better peace of mind.

My disclaimer.....It would be best to see it in person to know how deep the crack goes. Also, you can always have a professional look it over like @Delaware Valley Tackle .

It hasn’t fallen out yet which means I can superglue the crack shut
