Does anyone have any experience or information on these rods. I was browsing through Walmart tonight and saw a rack of the rods. They were all split-grip casting rods ranging from 6'6" to 7'6" in Light to MH actions. They seemed to be well made rods and were very light. I have wanted to experiment with a long split grip rod, but don't want to shell out $150-$250 for an experiment. These FLW rods were $47. They feel and look good enough for that.

I forgot my worm rod one fishing trip and a buddy let me borrow a 6'6" Walmart FLW rod he had for guide customers.

It broke halfway through the day.  

I saw those the other do at the Wal Mart near my house and was thinking they looked and felt really nice. If I can get back to the wal mart this weekend I'm going to pick one up. I need an extra rod anyway. I will probably get the 7' MH to use as a flipping rod and exchange my Flipping rod for a shiner rod. I will post a review after I use them. I had a FLW rod about 5 years back. It was shiny silver and was a pretty good rod until I broke a tip off on it. I still have the rod but it is only about 5'10" long.

I haven't seem them up here yet (Rhode Island) but for that price, I would grab one too. Are they new?

This is the first I have seen of them. They don't have them at the two closest wal-marts to me but they do have them at one about 30 minutes away. When I go to my parents house this weekend I am going to buy one if they have the length and action I want.

Several years ago I bought an FLW brand casting rod at Walmart.  It was a nice, light, sensitive stick.  I came upon it the other day, sometime or other I over tightened the reel seat and twist broke the cork on the upper handle.  It has electrical tape on it, I am going to rig it for friends to use when fishing with me.  

It's Wal MArt stuff branded FLW, they have a contract with eachother. Several years back they had Rods,Reels, Tackle Boxes etc  etc. Maybe they are gonna put the line out again

About 6 years ago I bought a 7' MH FLW Classic Series for about $36.  I'm still using it today.  Very light and sensative.  The action is perfect for crankbaits!  I've also used it for C-rigs.  Great rod for the price! The reel seat however does like to come loose often but that has been solved w/ electrical tape.  Wish my WAL-Mart still sold them

I purchased one of these rods last sunday after a day of fishing. The rod seems to be pretty nice. I picked up the 7' Medium Action Fast. It is a pretty light rod. The rod has 9 guides and seems to be pretty good quality. It is defenitely lighter than my BPS Extreme rod. I'm going to try it out this saturday during my fishing tournament.

I did ask, but the guy in the Sporting Goods section didn't know how wide the distribution would be. You might be able to ask the sporting goods manager to put some on his next order and you might be able to get some.

Wow, my $2.00 flw rod goes way back. Fun to read about it from 2008.

I was just thinking, "didn't I see a couple of these rods in the last BPS catalogue?  And didn't they want like $100 for them?"  But no.  It was MLF rods, and they were from Abu Garcia.  

 

Then again, adjusted for inflation, wouldn't a $40 rod from 2008 be around a $100 rod today?  

Absolutely nothing against reviving old threads whatsoever, just shows this site has been going strong for a long time. Maybe it's just my different sense of humor, but I've got to admit every time I see these tags I can't help but chuckle a bit though

I bought one of the FLW tour rods from Wallie World back then and actually still have it. I pretty much only use it as a beater rod anymore, but they were decent rods. It's seen it's better days, one of the plastic trim rings on the cork has cracked, a guide slides out of the wrap occasionally, and the cork is starting to look pretty bad, but it's still usable. It definitely outlived it's investment!

Seems like it should be that way, yet I'd put a $54 Daiwa Aird-X up against any of  my vintage $49 Lightning Rods or $99 Bionix from BITD.

I had a couple of them, they fished well above their price, but durability was an issue.
