SO new rod on the way need some help with reel and line

Featured Replies

Hey guys me again  :).  Got my new rod on the way 7' med/fast spinning carrot stix.  Was wondering what reel/line would you guys put on it.  I was thinking maybe a 2500 Symetre or maybe the new Pflueger President.  And was think about spooling it with 8lb fluorocarbon. Just wanted to see what you guys think.

They are both good reels but, I would look at the Shimano Stradic, it is a bit more money but well worth it! And as for the President I would also look at there Supreme and the Supreme XT. They have them in the Bass Pro Catalog or look at there web site to view them. As for line P-Line Fluorocarbon or Trilene 100% Flou.

Daiwa Presso with Sunline Shooter.  OK, that's the high end answer, but I'd grab a Tierra and P-line 100%.

Closer to you price range, the Daiwa Exceler & Tierra may be attractive options.  I believe that at the 2500 size they have slightly wider spool diameters that may improve the managability of fluorocarbon

My opinion? Keep the reel at $100 range, and don't buy floro for it.

Daiwa Advantage....I have a couple and favor them over the Stradic or even the Sustain.

I really like those Advantages, too.  I don't have any but may treat myself to some Daiwa spinning reels in the future.  I really like the Sol spinning reel, too, though it's a wee bit expensive.

Geez...

Where's the Posse? Why does the Sheriff have to be the lead?

Strong, smooth, silent and reliant. Get the Stradic 2500FI and

be happy for years. The rest are are simply wannabees...

The symetre is a good reel for the price, but if I was putting something on a carrot stix it would have to be lighter than the symetre.  So my vote goes for the stradic 2500FI.

I have a Shimano Saros F 2500 that has been absolutely stellar. This is what I'd recommend. :)

a couple of months ago i had the same question and roadwarrior suggested the stradic fi 2500 and i am glad he did awesome reel jmho

thanks again rw.

ps i am using 6 pound berkley trilene fluoro for my soft plastics and finnese fishing
